So to be clear you've got the button from Tonia (the cat), ran past the inkblot monster, and in the elevator you've input the missing button and it still won't click?
Have you tried:
1. Reloading a save
2. Reloading two saves back, if that didn't work (to a spot just before the latest save)
3. Starting a new game (I know it sucks- but this part is only 5 minutes into gameplay)
4. Feel free to share your save files with me (Discord invite -> link in sticky -> #bugs-report) and I'll take a look (I'm "Ido" in the server)
Thanks
and yes, I got the button, put it in the elevator and it would click, it would open the inventory screen again and the character would still say the button is missing
Hi again- For context, this was my response to the review: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197976222615/recommended/1119980/#developer_response
I apologized, because I know this sucks, then I offered help so that you'd get to experience the rest of the game. You are not to blame for the bug.
Then I've also suggested a few quick things to try in this thread because these would be fastest potential fixes. I've also offered live dev support to chat on Discord, and sharing your save file so that we can look into the bug and get you past the problem.
To be clear, there were thousands of playthroughs before you and this wasn't a problem to any of them as far as I'm aware- once again, I'm not blaming you, but this is precisely the reason I'm asking describe and share the data so that I can find out what went wrong to potentially ship a bug fix (it's likely something rare). I can't do this without the data. I understand if this process is not right for you but it's the best I can offer. I still hope you'll give the game another shot at some point in the future.
I know how bug fixing works thank you very much. The problem is not you not offering help. It's you saying I "didnt give the game a real try". I know bugs can be hard to recreate I've been a tester myself. Never would I tell a consumer they didn't really try my product because they encountered a bug. Apologizing and offering help still pales in comparison when you tell people they "haven't really tried your game" for something out of their control.
Next time offer help and keep the non needed parts of your comments which blames the consumers for a bad review because "they didnt really try the game".
This new answer just further tells me you're trying to cover yourself and not want to take any blame for what you said. If you were a car dealership and a consumer ended up in an accident because of a faulty engine part. Would you tell them that they should buy another car from you because they didn't really try that one?
To be clear, taking consumers for people who don't know anything about games and implying they didnt play enough of your game to give their opinion on what happened to them during that time is just in poor taste. After those 2 comments, not only will I not give the game another try in the future, I'm probably avoiding future products of this dev team too. Might want to think about hiring more testers or outsourcing it to keywords or a company around those lines if you cant do it in house and stay humble about something that has been missed.
And I never said you blamed me for the bug, I said you blamed me for not giving the game a "real try" and not continuing after encountering a soft lock and restarting my playthrough instead of leaving a negative review.
Hi InstableMonster, I appreciate you going over this in detail. I understand it must've been frustrating to navigate through. By "real try" I meant for you to be able to experience the rest of the game. I'm happy to see judging by your achievements progression, it looks like the problem has been resolved by restarting from a save, as suggested. Let me know if you have any more queries and feel free to join our Discord community. Thanks & have a good weekend
Hi, unfortunately since OP refused to send their save file for further investigation we haven't been able to reproduce the issue and ship a fix. I'm happy to take a look at your issue though, sending you a DM now.
