I can't find/make a cutting tool.
So, obviously other people haven't posted having this problem but I am stuck near the beginning of the game. Clearly I am supposed to find or make a cutting tool of some kind but I have looked everywhere I can think of, twice, and can't progress. I know there are glass shards since I am stepping on them... is this supposed to be part of a tool? What I dislike about these types of games is how specific I have to be. There are clearly decorations that could be used as a prybar, or the end of a knife, but they aren't interactable. I have to find the specific thing that will allow me to progress. I know there are probably guides, but it's frustrating knowing what I have to do and not being able to do it because of playing a hidden object game. If I'm stuck this early on, things probably aren't going to get better. I probably will abandon this game even though I really like the immersion and theme. For those of you who are going to post that you found it easy - good for you. I didn't and my gameplay experience is soured because of it. It's too bad for me I guess.

Hi cordinia, I really hope I can convince you to give the game a shot. I mean you already have it installed and booted!

At the beginning of the game, you're in "the building", it's a hub area that branches out to different sections of the game. There are some gameplay blockers like the police lines (I believe that's what you're referring to?) but you will get the tools to cut through them as you progress through the chapters. Specifically, you'll get the cutting tool after chapter 1 (the supermarket tape).

If you're in the basement area with an elevator, try to see if you can fix the elevator using the fuses around. You can always join our Discord to get chat help from me or the community.

I did continue with the game and realised I'm not meant to be able to cut the tape yet. I did find all the pieces of the gun and was able to open up some new areas. I certainly appreciate your reply and while I think the game is very cool it isn't the type of game I generally play. I hope it sells well though 'cause for a player who enjoys this type of game it's good.
