Wow, well, fasten your seatbelts. It's gonna be a bumpy ride. We've been at this since the release of the UE5 upgrade. Driving wasn't spectacular back on UE4, but oh man, these guys had a platter with eggs and tripped over with that update, and made egg salad on the floor. No recovery regarding driving since then, even after some of their puny attempts. Don't hold your breath on this. It's been long, and with very little interest on display from these guys to fix driving. Just get the cheap pickup on the original map and hope for the best. Or go play FS22/FS25 to see what driving farming/ranching vehicles should be like (and what modding can do to a game).
You'd think! But no. Soil in Ranch Sim is so rich in adamantium that trees and their derived wood weight so much that, once assembled, objects with wood are unmovable. In fact, adamantium must be so prevalent that it makes it into our PC's diet. Hence when chopping down a tree you literally do one single click on your mouse (or controller) to bring a whole tree down. I've played terrible games that get refunded after 20 minutes, yet they still require at least a couple of hits or more from an axe onto a tree to bring it down (more realistic). But our rancher characters are Avengers, so a single click will do!! Medieval Dynasty (and many other games) has beautiful, realistic animations for chopping down trees, and on Farm Sim you can buy your preferred brand of chainsaw (in-game or modded), and angle it at whichever angle you want on the tree, and see the angle displayed on it. Then a supercool animation comes as the chainsaw (accompanied by nice sound effects) goes from entry point to exit the tree, from right to left, and then the tree slowly falls down following mechanics of the angle you selected for your chain saw, thus controlling the direction in which the tree falls. It's a thing of beauty. In Ranch Sim, once you single clicked a tree and it falls completely unpredictably, we do the animation to cut the tree into logs, and sometimes the tree explodes and sends logs flying off into outer space because of the terrible physics model in the game. So now another galaxy will get adamantium log meteorites, allowing for a Wolverine in a parallel universe, I guess...
My post here is already too long. There's an ongoing post about fences. I urge you to check it, so you get a feeling of belonging. hands down worts building system i've seen (and I've tried many). Feel free to read my thoughts on that post. Fencing deserves its own conversation.
Welcome to the club. This is easily the most frustrating game I own, because the devs actually have the potential of what could become a great game. It has taken Giants several iterations of the FS franchise, but now for FS25 they have sold already 3 million copies within 3 months of release. Such is the level of anticipation and confidence in the brand. Since inception their franchise has sold over 40 million copies:
https://www.giants-software.com/news.php?show=news-120#:~:text=%22This%20Farm%20Is%20Your%20Farm,-favorite%20and%20genre-leader.
They started small, on a similar simulator as Ranch Sim. But the difference is that Giants has kept at it, listening to fans, focusing on the core elements of their vision, adding distractions and DLCs only once their product is established, learning from mistakes, understanding that if a gazillion fans want mods, well, maybe they should get off their lazy behinds and do something about it after almost a year of such requests instead of releasing bland paid DLCs, etc. Giants themselves are among the biggest contributors of mods, actually. They test ideas for the next iteration of their game by offering mods with those ideas to be tested by us on the current version. Brilliant!!! The Ranch Sim devs seem to be a bunch of headless chickens scrambling for financial support and trying to sell copies by forcing more and more content that ends up disjoint from the reason why someone may show interest in their game to begin with: the idea of ranching simulation, not farming, not cat-owning, etc etc. Those things can be added once the elements/mechanics that you and myriads of disappointed fans keep pointing out are fixed. With proper management and leadership, one day this game could be great, as there are many elements that don't need too much correction to be good. But from what we've seen so far, it's a looooooong, long shot.
So join us and enjoy a mediocre at best game with great potential, and seriously, don't reward poor leadership and customer engagement by buying the DLC. It's a slap in the face to all of us. Stop the madness of the argument that we the customers have to keep investing into unproven developers under the Early Access fallacy. Most businesses in life need to secure proper funding via financial institutions and/or serious investors and business plans before they can even start a business, and to provide reasonable business guarantees. Yet kids with no idea of real economics keep arguing that we need to act as EA investors with zero guarantee of return on investment because one or two games among thousands of Steam EA games eventually became good after 7 or more years of wait. Stop it! Just stop the madness. Invest on proven performance and commitment, and send amateur business wannabes to get proper financing like most other businesses in the planet. EA is pathetic and the reason why most things Steam sells are garbage (this game being an obvious part of the conversation).
Finally, for the record, apparently this game is not even on Early Access anymore (but who'd guess this one out, with so much nonsense in the game?).
Cheers.
I normally wouldn't read a post so long but I found it to be yet informative and humorous so you got my interest.
Although it hasn't made me feel any better about the game or the Devs, you have at least made me smile.
I will be having a look at Farm Sim 25 and seriously considering purchasing it.....
....And don't worry, I will not be getting the DLC for this monstrosity of a game, after all that would be preposterous.
I will go now and give this game my thumbs down rating.
Cheers, and have a good day.....
They always give the same excuse ....We are a small team .....Funny how these game launch have success and then never hire any help lol but just ride out the cash cow .
I mean people will buy my garbage off the side of the road when i put the can out nowadays
I am so tired of this 1-2 dev games that think they deserve a free ride in life
I agree but ppl been asking for mods for a long time with no real answer from these guys
And you lost me at paying for mods no way im paying for any mods made for any game...I get that it is becoming a practice to add mods to base games....
I dont own fs 25 for a reason cause giants is too slimy now and ill wait till its on sale for under 20$
I cant see that happening here the game sold how many copies and is still in a very bad way and the "updates" were very few and far and each one broke the game more and more.
Then they need more money with the DLC?
From the amount of copies this game sold it should be in better shape than it is cause there "was" money there for future development .
Thats why OG players now call it a "cash grab" cause thats what it is
They would never give up any of the $$$ to some modder
they even have the guts to sell dlc without polishing main game. where it could have been with the base game
you're correct game still drive ass, even optimizing the game is ass.
sadly they don give a damn about the game anymore only slight changes just so they can say they're still there just to fleece incoming customers
You know, i always see you going through random threads about legitimate issues to whine, complain, and bash the devs of Ranch Sim.
If you want to see what a REAL cash grab looks like and developers that are so disconnected from their community that they don't even list how to contact them then i dare you to go play Ark Survival Ascended and try to get in touch with any developer from Studio Wildfart...
Seriously, i'll wait till you get in contact for a dev from wildcard about the plethora of game breaking issues with ASA that they don't care to fix. If you hate the game so much then uninstall it and avoid the discussion threads because i can promise you from an "OG" ranch sim player here, the ranch sim devs DO read their discussion threads, they DO reply to people when they have time to, and they DO enjoy watching ranch sim content on various media platforms like youtube and twitch.
And if anyone hasnt noticed, the DLC is the base game, with no new features and reskinned with the exact same problems as the base game. Its just a copy pasta with new skins over it.
Give that and the overwhelming response to the question the devs asked "do you want mods for Ranch Sim?" and yet they have completely ignored that but gave a very very small minority "pets" when asked for it over fixes and content that really matters... The game and how the mechanics/features would be was a great idea, but very poorly implemented and its basically a cash grab... I did get some enjoyment along with a lot of frustration out of the game but the wife and I have been done for quite some time and are waiting on other titles similar in the genre, like Farm Folks, BitCraft Online, Light No Fire, etc... What a complete waste of a idea and stains the rep of this developer for future trash they plan to put out.
I truly laughed so hard, bro. Thank you for making my night
