Something is terribly wrong with optimization in this game- my pc crashes entirely.
I have this issue where my laptop is shutting down in its entirety whenever I play this game. It makes no sense to me how this can happen. I can play more heavy games like Overwatch 2 or the most recent Marvel Rivals for hours and hours without any crash or issues whatsoever, but with this game it shuts my entire pc down in 20 minutes. I have graphics on medium and already tried capping my fps to 60, and it still crashes.

My laptop specs are:
NVIDIA GEFORCE 4070 LAPTOP GPU
INTEL CORE I9 14900HX
64GB RAM
2TB M.2 NVME

Maybe check in Task Manager, the GPU seems to run 100% all the time (someone just suggested me to cap the FPS in Options). In a laptop overheating is a issue. Maybe there's dust inside the cooling fins in your laptop and it cannot cool properly, reaches 95 degrees Celsius and shuts down to protect the hardware. I don't say this is the problem...

yes that seems to be whats happening, but like I mentioned, I play more intensive, heavier games all the time without any issue... so there is something awfully wrong with this game that needs fixing... I've never had this happen to me with any other game ever.

My PC is closer to the limit, I think. It can run intensive games for hours on end (though never do they stay at 100% GPU) but, when viewing Netflix or even just YT, after a while it freezes. It certainly needs de-dusting but it is like normal cooling is no longer effective enough. Like some rule that says 2D operations do not require above x RPM in the fans because...duh...they're 2D !! The GPU and CPU may work fine but maybe the chipsets overheat? Dang they may be out for all I know and they run on the PC ventilation and fail due to dust...which would accrue easier under the stationary blades and such?. One of those days will bring a air blower and do the honors..

This has nothing to do with dust the game is just not optimized at all

problem with a lot of unreal 5 games today is the engine will take some abuse so these "smaller teams" just dont bother optimizing the game and thats whats happening here

Capping your frames will help some but you will still get the dips and dives because its just lazy work

It's sound to me more like a software problem than a hardware problem, yes keeping the fans clear of dust does with help the performance of the laptop or desktop & a good cleaning helps to. But If you all remember correctly when they where using unreal engine 4 it ran fine & yes there where was still some minor problems with the game. Now that are using unreal engine 5 it may unfamiliar software, of course that my opinion.

I sent my laptop in for maintenance about 3 weeks ago. changed thermal paste, thermal pads, and cleaned fans. My laptop is as good as can be, trust me, the issue is this game.

Overwatch 2 isn't heavy, lol. Overwatch 2 is much easier to run than this game.

This game is badly optimized and the graphics honestly are also pretty bad. Just accept it.

Try turning on DLSS as well as this can often help.
If you have an MSI laptop, then i would recommend turning off MSI afterburner as we have found this can cause havoc with Unreal Engine 5 games

It shut mine down as well, now my PC won't turn back on at all.
It tried to cook my new I9 as well, so I switched back to my old gaming pc with a Rysen 7 and worked well enough, no overheating, shame, I really wanted to test my new graphics card out on it

Turning on frame rate limit and DLSS will stop issues like this.
Without the limiter turned on, the game will push GPUS as hard as possible. Some higher end GPUS do not like this sadly.

My gpu was fine, but it was pushing my I9 to where I had to force close fast when I noticed it, was way way to hot on the verge of blowing a gasket hot

Unfortunately its too late for mine. My PC is barely a yeat old and it fried my psu and hopefully that's sll it did.... which is insane. I'm so pissed off now.

FYI - Laptops are not really meant for gaming. No matter what the marketing gets you to believe they are not. Get a real PC, a laptop is just a briefcase of compromises.

Unfortunately, this isn't a laptop issue. This game is crashing full gaming PCs.
