Sim Ranch & Epic

I love Ranch Sim and I have an Epic account but why was I forced to link my Ranch Sim and Epic account? I only play via Steam and do not have the game on Epic. I don't care but it is annoying that it pops up every time you start the game until you link! Also what is up with the Connect ID for a Session? What is it how does it work????

I would imagine that is so if you hae friends that have an Epic account and they buy it on that platform, they can join you in your game.

You can find the connect ID after you load a game. Just open the menu and it's in the top left hand corner.

You shouldn't be forced to link your accounts - it's an option that is available to do in the settings, it shouldn't pop up and bug you? I haven't got my accounts linked, and I don't get any notices during gameplay. Could you grab a shot of the pop-up?

As said above, the Session ID is there if you want to start a multiplayer game and share it with your friends - either invite them directly or share the ID with them. In the main menu, your friends can press 'Connect' and enter the ID (and password if you've set one)

the Pop up was only on load of game nor during. the screen shot will not be possible as a I linked the account after getting frustrated with the graphics setting and the graininess of it and restarting to get setting a bit better. the pop up stopped after the linking and it was always in my browser not in game!

Thank you for the extra information, I'll look into this - really strange that it's not happening to me! If you have any time to help out - if you unlink your accounts and open the game back up again, does the pop up appear?
I'm wondering if because I've previously linked accounts, and them removed the link, maybe the pop up just isn't appearing for me?

oddly enough the pop up does not come back. I previously had my Steam and Epic account linked also, but got the popup until I clicked the continue button in the browser. It also said under the pop up that my account was already linked and just click the continue to finish. this happened 3 times and then I press the continue and now no more. Very strange. I am trying to see if I can recreate the effect. I have also noted that if in game I go to the account section i and click link account, the link account is greyed out. even when the account is linked or not.. And lastly the game use to tell me the hot keys to link to my epic status and friends list but that no longer shows up... Everything seem fine in all my acounts just weird. thanks for the help

Hiya - I looked into it and figured out the issue: If your Steam and Epic accounts are already linked, but Ranch Simulator hasn't been granted permission to also be linked, it will open a web browser when loading the game to ask for that permission rather than automatically linking (it's an extra consent step).

Update: For those having this issue, please double check your connections and firewall settings. Make sure the game is allowed through your firewall/anti-virus software and make sure there are no other connection issues present.

Was looking forward to playing this until I noticed that Epic is being crammed down throats here too. It should be "optional".

This game should have a message on the store page - REQUIRES 3rd Party Software - Epic Games.
Since one must need to link their steam account with an epic games account to play.
Right now there is NO notification about this. Should be added.

Again, it only requires linking if you are playing with someone else that isn't on Steam. If you're playing singleplayer, or multiplayer with others on Steam then it doesn't need linking.
