Building and fence color

Is there a way to change the color of building and fences - I see screenshots that have painted items, but I can't find a way to do it.

At the hardware store, there is a paint machine across the room from the kiosk.

You can't change the color of pre-built buildings (the garage, old barn, or any houses you build) though. Only new building pieces that you put in. Hopefully that's changed in the future so I can match my buildings to each other lol.

It is easy to miss. It took me a while before I figured out where it was, then I gave myself a slap on the forehead for never noticing it.
