Why do dogs die?

Hello, developer, I built this dog a house and put water and food for him, why did he still die

Apparently there’s a bug where dogs won’t eat but they will drink, and it can be difficult getting them to follow you so then they wander off and die from starvation, thirst or attack by wild animal.

Tip: until this issue is fixed, i reccomend building a fence around the Kennel and put its bowl in there. That way it can't wander off to god knows where. Also, in my save i have to reassign the dog to its house everytime i reload my current gamefile- if i forget it leads to the dog not returning in the evening to sleep-also leading to starvation (therefore me putting a fence lol)

I also recommend. Another option is to wait to get the dog or cat until a fix comes out. I have seen this game transform over years and I have all the faith in the development team.

I SOOO hope that they fix this because not only did my doggo die 2 times but my chickens to .

I found if you have a bowl near you and whistle at your dog (when it's already following you) they stop following you and eat/drink as long as they are about 25% or lower. Also, don't pet you dog on the stairs, they will sometimes fall through the map and I have no idea where it went lol.

I couldn't even get mine home, I thought it would follow me. I haven't seen him in about two game days. I did not know they can die :(. I mean I didn't really think about it. I hope they fix the bugs with the dog.

to get the dog home you have to get close to it , face it and then whistle to it. it will then fallow you were ever you go . if you get into a care or truck it will ride with you .
