Fences, what is the trick?
I just bought/built the largest chicken coop. I am trying to build a fence and get behind it, so when I open the back doors they can't escape too far. However, I can never get the fence sections to line up correctly. When I am done it looks like a drunk carpenter had done it. I have not yet wasted any planks on it as I can tell before I do it looks terrible. Is there a secret to getting them to line up? Maybe I should just put a fence around the whole thing, but unless I can get them to line up, the chickens will be leaving through the gaps.

Yes, it's fun to build fences (but not only those). I always do it the other way around, build the fence first and then put the building on it, then take away the fence panels that get in the way

Just place a fence panel as and where you want it, the next one aligns with the first one (only works on the right side) and so on

If you then want to continue with an angle, let a field connect straight again when it is locked in place, then turn the mouse wheel 18 times in the desired direction and you will get a 90° angle (works in both directions).

Thanks for the tips. :-)

The fence connects from one side. If you move the fence one way or the next two clicks.. the next one will continue that count of two clicks. If you want your fence to straighten out again, simply click on the fence again, and it will have the next one go straight from the last piece.

If you want to turn your fence for a square fence, simply move 18 clicks at the corner. Again, around the corner, go back in and click on fence again to have it go straight with the last piece until you get to the corner again.

I have put a fence around the whole barn, as it is difficult to get it to connect to both sides and look nice.

I am having tons of trouble getting fences to snap to each other. There are always gaps here and there and even tho the animals can not go through the gaps it looks so bad.

They only snap on one side, so it`s best to work from the left to the right when building fences. The Q and E keys will raise and lower the fence. Each click of the mouse wheel is 5 degrees, so 18 clicks for a 90 degree corner. If you just keep going with fence panels, and skip the gates at first, it is easier. Come back later and demolish a fence panel where you want a gate, and the gate should snap right into place. For me, getting that first fence panel set where it needs to be is the most difficult. Sometimes it is easiest to put down a foundation blueprint to use as a guide to get the fence started in the direction that you want, then delete the foundation blueprint. Hope this helps.

if u place a fence piece the next piece will auto clip to it if u stand right / aim the camera right

rise and lower a fence with E and Q

spin the fence piece with mouse scroll

problem: something is funky with the clipping if u don't do it in big go about. Just wouldn't clip no more when i came back to make some changes ( idk what triggered this )

If you place the first piece, go back to the book and select the fence again, it will always be straight, scroll you mouse 18 clicks and it'll be a perfect 90 degree from the original piece, this is when you need to go back and select the fence piece again. If you're wanting to add a section in the middle, as to create 2 areas from one, you will need to delete one piece then do the tricks above. It took me forever to figure it out buy my OCD wouldn't allow the fence to be anything but aligned properly lmao
