Should I not chop down trees outside the ranch for bee hives to spawn?

Is there a set location bees like to spawn? I'm hesitant to chop down trees outside the ranch because I didn't want to mess up bee hive spawns just in case. Does anyone know if they're random on any tree or if there is a specific area to avoid chopping down trees?

Also, the beehives only spawn in those skinny trees. The big pine looking trees you can chop down without worrying about cutting potential beehive spawn trees.

The bees spawn their own trees, so you don't have to worry about it.
