I noticed that mine are causing some frame drop when i get close to the coop (or even when im facing the direction of it).
I tried to solve this by let'em run free, what seems to reduce the lag.
My pc: Ryzen 5 2600, 16 gb ram, GTX 1660 6gb.
Just saying this so the devs know that someone is having this issue.
What about change the hen house a little and add several food/water station where we are able to refill them from a pipe as the small hens house and this way 20 hens should not be any problem.
Loose casing boxes and water boxes should be available if we choose to expand the hens area or other animal area.
Thanks, we are aware that some users experience lag on their ranch (that's the worst place for it) so if you are, then we suggest reducing your quality settings or reducing the amount of livestock you have. Also ensure you keep your drivers up to date.
We're continuously working on optimisation and in the April update we had a good breakthrough for large amounts of animals on the ranch
We'll take this on as a suggestion and see!
I've seen some players keeping chickens in a cell with feeders there, apparently it's been successful!
I noticed from time to time when i collect fertilized egg at night time i see hens who wanna attack me is stuck downstair and can`t reach me because they are blocked in the stairs.
20 Hens up and down that stairs may cases some of the issue.
1 day i forgot to close my door on that small hens house and suddenly 8 chicken run out as fast as hell and spread out and some few second later they all turn and walk back to the hens house without any issue so it looks like the pathfinding works very well.
"Surprising nice mechanics on those small chicken devs where they went back to the hen house each night :) "
We're looking into the causes, I've responded to your other thread asking for your save. It's hard to diagnose what's going on as it only happens to a small percentage of players, it also then takes us ages to do through these saves, try to reproduce the issue and sit there for ages watching to see if the chickens eat.
The coops and chickens were designed to freeroam, maybe in June when we add fences then players will be happier to let their chickens roam in a larger area (and so won't be so squished together, trying to avoid each other)
They know where their beds are <3
What about those big hens do they know where the bed is every night when the door is open or do they get lost in the wilderness lol
I love that mechanics behaviour on those sweet nice small baby chicken where they goes straight to bed each night as if they have been doing it for many years :)
I built a "log" fence around the two large coops (20 hens in each coop) so that all the chickens in both can come and go. I fill both feeders and also put food out in 4 or 5 different places on the ground. None of my chickens have died, except when I butcher them for sausage. ;)
I haven't had this issue at all. That's a bummer.
