Do hens have a life span in the game because I only have 18 hens in the big coop and the hens die after awhile.

Sorry but how do you lose a FULL coop of chickens? Did you add 3 bags of grain every morning? The blocking issue people talked about is blocking few hens from getting to the food not all in a coop. None of the coops have auto feeders. I go through 7 to 11 bags a grain a day with both big coops and the little one.

The only time I have seen issues with feeding is when more than 20 are in one coop. The 20 includes chicks too. Even then only one or two dies.

-- Well it is possible to add 2-3 bags of food on the ground beside a maxed feeder and this way he is 100% sure nothing wrong gonna happen.

I jump up on that platform below the window and look at the stairs some few game hour and from time to time some hens blocking the path but that was only some few second not a bigg deal and by the way i had more than 20 hens.

The hens mechanics in the stairs work smoothly and they walk easy pass each other even when they only have few centimeter available so i think the devs have done a great job with the hens mechanics.

-- I am pretty sure the issue is some other place than the game mechanics and i may think he had run empty for food some few game hour and when the health is low or to low then it may be an issue to get the health back on track but that i have not tested.

I may think "nastynick321" need to give it a new shot and make sure he do not have more than 20 hens and food and water need seriously attention and he may add 2 extra food bags on the ground inside the hen house just to make sure the food is not any issue.

I know from my self too much gaming and to little sleep from time to time and the concentration fall down and mistake pop up i didn`t noticed and suddenly it is something seriously wrong with the game and the world collapses and quick conclusions emerge and everything is the game's fault lol.

The reason I say 20 is because the big coops say there are for UP TO 20 chickens. When I had 25 I found 2 dead so figured it was due to too many in coop. 20 chickens in a coop will use up the full feeder of grain every day. The feeder takes 3 bags to fill. So far I have not had to put any grain on the ground in my coops. I make sure to keep my population at 20 in the big coops.

The one thing I am not sure on is the animal droppings, I clean that stuff daily but I not sure if it will cause issues if not picked up.

I may think the developer said the feces now gonna decay after some few days so basically nobody need to pick them up / clean up anymore and that means the feces do not causes damage which I did not like because we after all runs a ranch and if we can`t take care for our animals then it should have a serious consequence which I strongly expressed.

Windwalker you said The feeder takes 3 bags to fill up at max and 20 hens eat everything each 24 hour, in so case the developer need to add more space for food in the feeder at least 4 or 5 sack to avoid starvation.

I may think the developer wanna keep us "too busy "with max begrenset feeder lol

They need to remember single player and too busy is not always a good thing.

I personally think that if the chickens are in the coop then the one feeder should be enough to feed all those chickens without the need for placing more bags on the ground. I don't want my pretty ranch covered in piles of chicken food, otherwise what is the point in the feeders?

In most cases, the feeders are enough and I only have to top mine up every other day.
The whole game changes depending on PC specifications - as calculations and limits come into play. If you do have a serious issue then our support team will run through your specs, framerate and make personalised suggestions (as best as we can do without knowing the age of your machine, what else your PC is doing that could be causing issues with the game running calculations and other weird technical stuff that causes us issues)

-- The feeder should at least store 4 bags of food and not 3 because i am afraid we gonna be to busy with everything in the game and we need little interruption.

-- Another thing i wanna point out with the hen house is : the circle cursor is very tiny but we can deal with that but the issue is we can barely see the cursor on the night time because of the light from the flashlight almost makes it disappear and the color of the foundation the eggs stay son make it even worse.

Do you think you can look into that issue Amberon and do some adjustment and this way we can track ours cursor in the darkness a way we can hit those nice lovely small eggs?

Sorry this long post so please stay with me and i wanna explain what had happen and what just happened with the food consuming and sorry my english grammar as well.



-- Something is definitely wrong with the food mechanics. At my stage 20 hens empty 3 to 4 bags of food before 15.00 everyday on my big hen house and they barely thouched the water.

It look like they take a sipp on water and a ton of food each mouthful and those 3 bags they got in the morning is gone before 13.00 as it happened to just few minute ago and that happens me every day at this gamestage.

I basically need to drive non stop and by bags of food all day long and by that the developer need to take a look at it with 2 hens house maxed up and 40 -50 chicken in that small hen house and se what happens with the food versus water consuming because this sucks.

It drain our money and it take all our time and effort just to keep track of 3 hen house maxed up except that small one hwo has 30 to 50 chicken.


-- This happened me some few hour ago mate :

When the morning came i had two big hen house with 20 hens each hen house so i max up the water and food feeder with 3 bags of food in each big hen house + that small one with out area and that is 9 bags of food.
Then i always place out 2 bags of food on the ground in each hen house and that is 6 bags of food and now i have place out 15 bags of food.
Keep in mind i count my chicken in that small hen house and the right number was 50 chicken.

So i had just buy that big truck who was empty so i take it to the store and fill it up with 49 bags of food and went back to my camp before 15.00 and there i see all feeder was empty again and they barely touched the water.

So now i start to load food out of my truck and maxed up 1 hen house for then to take the next one and when i had take the last one then the first one was almost empty and i need to fill that one again and like this i keep on fill up the feeder and i was not able to catch up with food bags and keep on and on to 21.30 when our animal going for sleep.

First now i was able to max up each feeder so i save the game and went to my big truck and i had 20 bags of food left in my big truck.
That means i had 49 bags of food and 20 left so i loaded up those 3 feeder with 29 bags of food from 15.00 to 21.30 and before i went to the store i had give my 3 hen house 15 bags of food and that means that day they consuming 44 bags of food and as i said i save the game and count my bags i had left.


-- But the issue did not stop there because when the next day started up i see my hens and chicken start to die in the air for the very first time and in few hour i had more that 30 dead chicken and hens so did they eat to much and blow up their belly or did those 44 bags of food have poison.

Anyway from this stage i have several dead chicken and hens each day even when i stay there and max up their feeder + two bags of food on the ground each hen house with the same amount of hens and chicken.

But the starnge is they barely touch the water where i only need to fill up one bucket of water later evening and of course those 50 chicken need 2 or 3 extra bucket of water before the night pop up.


-- When this happened i was surprised and save the game straight ahead and start to take a look what did really happen in case i gonna make a post about the chicken and hes food consuming versus the water consuming.

When i think about it before i buy that biggest truck i had the small one and all i doing every day all day long was to spend all my time to hit up the gas station 1 time and the burgeshop 1 time on the way to the food store and i filled up my small ctv with 7 food 3 time before the night pop up and they consume all my food each day long.


-- The developer need to take e seriously look into this issue and thes it out with 20 to 25 hens in those two bigg hen house and 50 -60 chicken in that small one with out area fence and use that biggest truck and fill it up and see what really happens because this is just so wrong.


-- When i think about it i had none dead chicken or hens before i buy that biggest truck and that was when my chicken population start to explode.

So how it is possible to end up with more than 50 chicken on two hen house maxed up with one rooster each of those two big hen house and that small one did not have any rooster and remember it take 3 days for the eggs to hatch.

And why do the water consuming goes as normal where they barely touched it and even on that small hen house with more than 50 chicken goes smoothly.

I may think the amount of chicken causes extra problem on all food consuming or was it that big truck i just buy.


-- I have a hard time to keep track of the food consuming and collect all eggs and slay all hens who grow up on my chicken farm so i have not started up with the barn yet because my 3 hen house keeping me to busy.

My two big hen house have only 19 hens and 1 rooster and zero chicken.

My small hen house have only chicken and i try to kill all hens who pop up there by night time if i got time .

I collect egg every first or second day on my two big hen house to avoid chicken there just to clear that out.

Very odd, I will try some testing on my end for this. I agree you can see the water not go down much and the grain goes away quick. For my I fill things between 6am and 8am (that way no chickens run out as all asleep) . I do not fill them after that until next morning. In my 2nd to biggest coop, the grain is still showing the next morning. In the biggest coop, the gain is not showing but I have not had chickens die (YET).

Either way something needs to be looked at. It might be good to take the save you have and send to the dev's for review.

-- The next day i stay with my farm and make sure they have food and water and they start to die from the morning pass the day so when the night pop up i think about a screenshot so here is one from my big hen house and as you see they still have food and water left and the max population is 20 and few minuta ago i had removed dead corps so those dead hens is from the last minute.

-- From this stage i track dead hens and chicken each day and they just die in the air and i can`t even see if they are short on food or water . maybe that`s because they do not have lack of food and water and this way theirs health bar doesn`t pop up.

When i use that small ctv i alway see some damage on food and water when i went back from the store but it was not any life-threatening deficiencies but just a little bit

I sure hope the dev see's this. Something is very odd. Do you keep coop doors open during the day? I asking because I do not my coops are always closed unless I am going in. I going to go back to a prior save and see if I have issues. (I start a new game after updates so I not on a game with all my chicken coops full)

-- I have now more than 70 chicken who waiting for growing up and they keep swarming and what i did was to remove one of the rooster from 1 of the big hen house and place it together with the other rooster just to minimalized the fertilized egg.

Well that did not work mate because that hen house without any rooster keep on and fertilize a lot of egg by them self and when i collect those fertilized egg then the hens attacking me.

By the way when i open the door to that hen house then 3 of my hens escape out in the wilderness as i have fire my gun next to them.
I use only stun gun far away from them but still 3 of them escape each day.

Another thing some of my hen in both my big hen house doesn`t sleep in the night and they are awake each night and walk out of my hen house when i open the door.

And this to : now after all this trouble pop up i noticed both of my big hen house have reduced production of egg down to 10 to 15 egg each night and they have started to multiple feces several time and i have almoust same amout of feces as egg now 10 to 15 each night.

"The developer need to add 1 more tiny small hen house and on this one we wanna store our rooster only in the future."

-- I gonna quit that game because now i got crazy lag because my chicken team up right in front of my feeder all day long on that small hen house with fences around.

-- Answer to your question i alway have my door closed during the day because i have not yet build any fences around.

The next game i gonna prioritized fence around both of my big hen fast as possible because i noticed my hens prefer to walk out the door downtair and walk around to the stairs who going to the second floor.

-- Mate the further i was in the game more fertilized egg i prodcsed and less normal egg with same amount of hens.
Further i was in the game the more feces my hens produced and again less normally egg.

The further i was in the game more hens stop sleeping and now some random hens escape as i fire a gun near them..

-- And by the way developer if we have the door open to those small hen house then those chicken or hen need to walk out much more in case we build a big area with fence and it should not be any issue if we have several chicken there as long we don`t run empty for food and water.

Basically i prefer to have only hens in two of those big hen house and that other hen house i use for the chicken.
Please add a chicken house with at least 50 chicken or up to 75 chicken, we need a chicken house :)

By the way we should be able to butcher chicken as well if we need and sell them , as you know chicken wings :)

@Symatrix Hill I may know what "MIGHT" be happening. I looked more at your pic's and in the image below I see at least 4 or more Roosters (I think I see 6). 3rd image in your post.

I was not looking at white chickens and thinking oh it is a Rooster but I ended up with 3 in a coop. I only found out by killing them. The below image gives a good look at the different tail feathers. From what I have read, you should not have more than one Rooster in a coop or they will fight. I wonder if them fighting causes other hens to die and or just not able to eat from stress.
