Question about fps
Over 230 hrs of playing this game I have not encountered any indication of my fps being reduced. However, for the past four hours the game has been stuttering in video, I mean totally jumpy. It started this evening. Has something changed or should I be directed to a different network? Should I be using discord? What is Discord?:steamsad:

Hiya! That's interesting, have you run through the usual scans to check if there's nothing wrong with your machine? I would restart it and see if performance improves, also shutting down other programs that are open will help.
If this continues, please email our support team and they may be able to offer some advice and work with you to identify the issue: support@excalibur-games.com

Discord is a messaging platform, we have our own Ranch Simulator server where our community can talk to us or each other about the game, report bugs, write suggestions etc. It's like the Steam discussions forums but easier to have a live conversation!
Check out Discord's website for more information, this is the link to our specific Discord server: https://discord.gg/ez2YsKP

Thank you for the recommendation to use support. Discord keeps telling me " invalid invite" when I use the above link you sent me. Thank you anyway. :steamhappy:

So I ran every diagnostic I know of and it still is very jumpy video as if my fps is really low. Even if I set my video options from epic to low. I've tried some other steam games that require high powered computer (Gold Rush & ATS) and the fps is running steadily high, seems to be only Ranch Simulator. I've emailed support Please Advise!

Oh does it? It works for me, how strange. I feel like I've heard someone else say this before too.. I've received your email and we can work back and forth to find the cause of the issue now - thanks!

Thank you! I will be glad to figure this out. It worked great from April, when I bought the game til the evening of 8 June 2021. I appreciate all help I can get. I didn't change anything in my computer and as I said before I've tried some other steam games that require high powered computer (Gold Rush & ATS) and the fps is running steadily high, seems to be only Ranch Simulator. I am puzzlwd why it's only Ranch Sim???? :steamhappy:
Ambreon Jun 11, 2021 @ 2:08am
I'm not sure why only Ranch Sim, I have a feeling it'll be something to do with your save file then. Maybe too many animals on the Ranch? Do you get lag on the map anywhere outside of the Ranch?
Bobcat Jun 11, 2021 @ 3:09pm
Bingo! I reduced the number of pigs from 10 to 6 and the lag is gone, thanks. I now have 6 pigs and 20 chickens. This brings me to question, is there a cap on the number of animals on the Ranch? Thank you for helping me to get rid of the lag! Dev's ROCK!!!!:steamhappy:

There's no cap, the cap is the amount that your PC can handle! We aim to make it optimised though to ensure that lower spec machines can still have a decent sized Ranch.

If this is a lower spec machine. I'd love to see the higher

I thought this was pretty high, please advise???
It works great for Gold Rush, American Trucker Sim, euro trucker 3 sim, Flight sim by microsoft , and more. Are you sure my system can't handle it???

Your system can for sure handle it. I experienced the same problem as well, Had to kill some of my chickens for the stuttering to stop.

This is not good, :steamsad:. I'm hanging in there for the June update. Using this time to see how I want to set my Ranch up. To include growing the Ranch. Less than 10 Pigs> What is the objective? I appreciate your responses, thank you

I remember your email (sorry, I get lots of emails!), can you reply with your dxdiag and savegame please, I provided the instructions. I'm assuming all your drivers will be up to date, and I also provided some standard info for keeping your machine optimised. We'll take a look and see why you're suddenly getting issues. I'll also run your save game on my PC (which is lower spec than yours, yours is good!)

Loaf Cat if you want to email us too (instructions at the top of the thread) and we'll take a look. I'm thinking it might be something in your save game that's suddenly taking up a lot of processing power, maybe. we'll have to investigate.

I think I discovered something interesting, the game does not like more than 4 pigs and 50 chickens. I reduced from 10 to 4 pigs and uhm… 500 chickens to 50 and I am having no lagging anywhere in the game. Perhaps possible cap in the code for animals on the Ranch. I just hope the June update fixes this. It would be fun to have ranch hands to help perform some duties on the ranch, like gathering eggs. Lol
Ambreon Jun 17, 2021 @ 3:06am
Aha okay, the issue there then is that you have a ridiculous amount of chickens on your Ranch. The coops suggest up to 20 for the 2 big ones, and only a couple for the small one. We don't plan to add a cap as we don't want to limit anyone's creativity, we just leave it up to common sense as you'll know when you've got too much of something when your game starts to lag.
We of course keep it optimised to a sensible amount of livestock and scattered assets (logs etc around the map) but it all builds up. Over time we will be making further optimisation tweaks to allow for larger scale ranches with more livestock.
Bobcat Jun 17, 2021 @ 11:16am
Common sense is only common to the beholder. Example: MGB is common sense to the Engineer to mean Medium Girder Bridge. In 1975 a P38 was common sense to the soldier to mean small hand held can opener for C-Rations. And Yes I let the chickens get away from me. I had to shoot them to reduce the quantity. Is there a better way to reduce than wasting bullets on chickens? I did not know that the Roosters would produce until the game freezes up. Only control I have is shoot them? As usual I am thankful for your help. DEV's ROCK! :steamhappy:
