I read somewhere they're planning on adding a fertilizer use at some point that the waste will be used for, but until then you don't actually have to clean it up. It should disappear after a time. I've noticed it usually is gone within one in-game day or so, but I also don't have a zillion chickens so they might be replacing it faster than it's able to disappear. :)

First time Ive ever seen a chicken turd. They are huge. Initially I was looking around for a dog. Its easy to get picky and say thats not realistic and on the the farm we used to XYZ but its a game and everything cant be spot on. The first time I saw the chicken nuggets on the ground I had to chuckle.

If we do end up being able to use manure cleaning those things up from so many chickens will be far too time consuming. Especially with how short daylight is. Id rather see a compost pile instead of cleaning up all the livestock just for sake of time. Whatever fowl, bovines, swine, horses, etc that comes into the game will take up a whole day to clean up after. It needs to be rethought.

I think 4Doose is right here. It take way too long for it to be viable unless the devs lengthen the days quite a lot longer. I don't have time to develop the Ranch further due to this, so I just do the same half dozen thing every day. Not even time to ride horse and I only have 36 hens, 7 cows and 12 pigs. ????

To the OP's question -
In general - No need to clean the poop. But..... there are still times when a poop is in that one spot (on/near a ramp usually) that causes a Chicken to get stuck long enough to die. Can happen, but it's so rare I don't waste time preventing it. The very rare occasional loss is acceptable.

Especially as it's a 'ramp up' problem. Not an issue with just 12 Chickens. Can be an issue when you have 4 dozen, but at that point losing one a week is nothing.

As someone who had many backyard chickens: It's hell.

The length of day doesn't bother me. I work through the night with a little gamma adjustment. Having said that, less time poop collecting would be nice. If there was a genuine reason for it, it would be different. I hope they do implement some sort of fertiliser usage for it. Would be nice.

The poop will decompose and disappear after some time, so if you don't want to clean it up you can just leave it :)
Also, suggestion for a use (eg fertiliser) is noted - thanks!
