Game doesn't want to start
I've tried everything but everytime I want to start the game it crashes already at the first loading screen. So does anyone know how to fix that?

Same problem
Same here.
I've played about 12 hours into the game, and not had any problems. Suddenly today I go to play it, not changed any settings or anything, but now it won't load anything past that "copy cd key to clipboard / play" small window that appears before loading some games.
I tried to load it through Windows Explorer rather than Steam, and it said I was missing PhysXLoader.dll
I downloaded this, and now the game loads into the main menu, but if I click new game or try to load any of my saves, I get a pale blue screen. No buttons do anything, except pressing escape makes the noise of going to the menu from in-game. Clicking anywhere on screen does nothing though.
Previous save files do the same, and I even deleted all local files and redownloaded and installed the game, but the same happens.

Yes, Hello Deak...Purchased this game about 11/2 weeks ago... Similar problem, crashes, followed same steps as you, freezes, stays on my screeem, but can't go on! Mouse also freezes. Have to use Device Manager to move it off my screen???? Tried several times??? Did u finally get it to work? Appreciate a response??? Thks

This is indeed Nvidia PhysX problem. You can try to remove every installed Nvidia PhysX package from Remove Programs menu then reboot PC and install PhysX as described there: http://steamcommunity.com/app/11190/discussions/0/864948300033895738/#c485623406946105665

This fixed it for me. I did not come up with this, found it in a thread that Tanidar linked to. Instead of redownloading, deleting, try repairing for those that can't get it to start.

Go to c drive open program files then steam and steamapps then common then look for Sherlock Holmes vs jack the ripper click support and find and open folder with PhysX. Left click and choose repair on both in the folder. Restart the game and bling it will run. I also re-verified the game before doing this step. It then started with no issue saved with no issue and completely worked. Love these games.

Great tip d7, it is a little annoying that the game won't play without fixing it first, but it was easy enough to fix thankfully. I can verify that clicking repair in the steam folder does indeed fix the game. Game also would not work immediately until I clicked repair. I'm glad someone has fixes for these. Game is interesting so far, I'm pretty sure most people dislike buying a game and get those not loading issues, so thank you and others for the workarounds.
