Pinning two items together

So I am trying to make a hatch but I am having trouble pinning the hatch to its base what could be the reson the two items are not attaching together (sorry for my English its not my first language).

maybe use the destructable wire thing on the tools section and that might will fix your problem

if you are trying to make a hatch then connect the two objects with a pin.
destructible is not important.
