Crashes

I receive many emails and messages from people telling me their game has crashed on their very specific computer. Usually these messages don't come with any useful information. I decided to make this post to inform all of you on most common causes and fixes.

Causes

Integrated graphics
While the game is capable of running on an integrated graphics card, you won't have a very good time. It is less likely to crash if you have a dedicated GPU.

Outdated video drivers
You may have a dedicated GPU but if it's older than you it won't do very well. There are modern features that this game expects your computer to support. Update your drivers or get a new GPU.

Outdated operating system
The most reliable system to run this game on is Windows 10. Older systems may cause problems.

If you are running Windows 7, you need a specific security update:
KB3063858 for 64 bit (probably what you need)[www.microsoft.com]
KB3063858 for 32 bit (if your computer is older than you)[www.microsoft.com]

Your game is not a legitimate copy
Pirated versions of the game are very likely to be unstable. 

You modified the game
Installed mods may cause crashes, so make sure you read the log file and message the mod creator.

The game is bad
When you create or spawn something very large, your computer may run out of memory. This causes the game to force exit.

Fixes

Restart your computer
This somehow fixes a lot of problems. Restarting your computer might make the game function how it should.

Reinstall the game / Steam
Something might've gone wrong during installation, or your entire Steam may be defective. Try reinstalling them.

Reset your configuration
Run the resetConfig.bat file in the game's directory. This will reset your game settings and may cause it to be functional once more.

Switch to the OpenGL backend
By default, the game runs on DirectX. You can force the game to use OpenGL if you are experiencing graphics related problems by adding '-force-glcore' to the game launch options.

Advanced Trickery
Confusing the computer with even more mysterious instructions sometimes fixes your problem.
On older hardware, adding

force-d3d11-bltblt-mode= 

to the

People Playground_Data\boot.config

file may work.


If none of that works, send me the crash log. This is located at

C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\LocalLow\Studio Minus\People Playground\Player.log

You can send me these by uploading them to pastebin.com and sharing the link.
I will not offer you any help if you have an illegitimate copy of the game.

my game crashes occasionally, but its always because i blow up too many nukes and kill hundreds.

My game has never crashed either. It appears to happen most often to people whose computer does not meet the minimum specifications.

EDIT: Not to say the game doesn't have bugs that cause crashes. I'm sure it does, I just haven't encountered them yet.

this just started happening to me today, yeah i opened it, the main menu came up, but no options like play n ♥♥♥♥, then my pc started shutting down, but luckily steam was open so i could cancel it.

i found a fix, just do validate game files. right click people playground > properties > local files > click validate game files. done.

ah yes spawning a ragdoll is a violent physics sim

Before the recent update my game never crashed (i have a integrated graphics card) like i could push it very far before it crashed, but now i was working on a vehicle and spawned a crate. The game crashed and i lost all of my progress. Im not sure if it my fault but it feels like the update has caused a lot of crashes.

game crashes every time the industrious generator is about to exceed 2 lights while being connected by a wire to a floodlight

before the recent update I NEVER crashed, now I am, it only happens if I use a generator on something, maybe it's because of that new feature where objects can be destroyed

May 27th Edit: I randomly crashed 2 times after doing nothing..., It started happening after the recent update

Edit Again: My game never crashes when I lag a lot, it only crashes 5 minutes through gameplay when I do nothing

zooi my game sometimes crashes when i save files. it says it cant find the thumbnails. and it also freezes for about 5 mins
