Fixed Cable isn't really fixed
Simple, Fixed cable should ignore weight when transferring momentum etc. Right now, linking two plates with a fixed cable and dropping the 1 ton weight on top bends the cables, which fixed cables shouldn't do, would fix a lot of physics related issues with bigger contraptions too.

well i mean what did you expect it's a one ton weight of course its going to bend it

It shouldn't, cause else it wouldn't be a fixed cable, or "Rigid" for that matter.
I expect a game function to do what it describes. Rigid things aren't supposed to stretch, cause that makes them not rigid.

i like it because it allows for things like springs and elevation mechanisms. When it says rigid it means realistically rigid, not virtually rigid. Use leverage to fix this.

I would say rather add a springy version of the cable, and make this one actually resistant, like a weld.

Also "Use leverage to fix this." please do tell me how, cause I cannot find a way to fix this problem, i've tried a lot already.

I do like the idea of having a springy cable. I usually just connect another rigid cable or two coming off at a 45 degree angle from the point with the most leverage.

the problem is that that still doesn't make it fixed, I kinda want a cable to freeze an object like the freeze function, but then connected to another object, so it's still movable, but no longer movable in relation to the other object.

it is not trying to be realistic it is just base unity physics

This was two years ago.
The problem has already since been fixed.
Good job.

i hate how its not fixed. what other cable am i supposed to use to hold REALLY heavy objects without it moving at all :(

It's a physics limitation.
You can't really do circular parenting so it's pretty much as good as it will get.
It's also much much more rigid than it was two years ago.
