This game rewards playing it safe and gives you oodles of tools to do it. There's rarely any need in this game to go all that fast, even when there's a giant slime chasing you. Slow down, smell the roses, use the block interface just to pause and take stock of your surroundings if you have to, and don't charge into dangerous things.
The game has so much potential but the lack of save points, the tetrabot being more of a parallelagram instead of a cube so it gets caught on edges, and no ability to look at the entire area and having to go blindly into many places just makes this game very frustrating. Honestly, I am sticking with Toki Tori.
Actually, you can look around the entire level (except in select few community levels that disable this function). You can press and hold a certain button to move the camera around during play (the button you need to press will be shown in the upper-left corner during play, and you can map it to a different button in the options menu if you want).
yeah that is exactly what i meant
you just have to do a perfect run in order to finish the level and that is damn annoying
i like playing around, making mistakes but I don`t want to redo the whole level!
If they're not gonna have checkpoints or a rewind function they should have made the levels much much shorter.
By it nature platform chase/timed scene are hard and very frustrating. Now add puzzle elements to it and you can see how bad level 34 is.
They made it worst by not having a check point system and the chase scene started in the beginning. That means if you pass the chase/timed scene and failed at the many puzzle element after that. You have to start the entire chase/timed scene again.
I enjoyed the game, but felt that sometimes the game can't decide if it wants to be a puzzle game, a platformer or a very difficult platformer like Super Meat Boy (see again bonus lvl 012).
I don't know who ever thought of that, but seriously, that's ultra annoying. And the big mama levels too, although to a lesser extent.
p.s. The demo crashes to desktop after the initial loading screen on Win XP SP3, AMD HD 6850.
I was a bit anxious seeing all those comments about the lack of rewind or checkpoint. But eventually I believe the game is fine as is. One has to be warned about the hardcore platforming sections it involves here and there.
Bonus level 012 Extreme Temperature is insane. I recommend you watch a video or test it as soon as you can, before thinking about completing the game. Still an excellent puzzle platformer in my opinion.
