Why not just sell the spices

If you let Lurs just sell the spices, does it do anything? As he stated, he's taking their money for spicier soup. Is there a game effect?

i only know that if you pick to buy them from him so he wont sell to them youll be ♥♥♥♥ outa luck cuz i cant seem to end that contract and costs me 3 gold a week

I picked that and I don't regret it. In the end, it's just spices. What are they gonna do, pepper their spears? I didn't had the money to pay for it myself and I needed his assistance, so I agreed with his business. It didn't have any negative side effects on my gameplay as far as I noticed.
