Can't use needles on crack

I've been playing for a while now and Asalia just told me to get some needles and use them on the crack in the garden. I already have the needles, but it won't let me use them on the crack. In fact when I hover over the crack, no name appears over it unlike when I hover over the bench or Asalia.

Hey there! We've had a look and nothing seems wrong on our end - have you made your sure you're dragging the middle of the needles over the middle of the crack?

Hey, i can use the Needles without any Problems.....but after using them, and Eryk talks about the letter..the game suddenly stucks....i can move the mouse but i cant click anything. Is this even a new one?

The entire "crack" isn't even selectable for me. I've moved my mouse over every pixel in that screen. And also, obviously, I cannot use the needle with it either, which kinda made the trial fun... (and I just bought the game, so I have the latest version)

On switch, i'm having the same problem. I've tried everything but the needles are impossible to use in the garden.
