Has anyone done this specific line of choices (spolers)
I want to know if anyone has promised As to Lady Lena while also siding with Lurs. I did it while siding with Etton and her son OD'd on dust. Just wondering if the same thing happens regardless.

I was trying to see if it's possible to keep As around without marrying her to an old man and without her becoming a generic too cool for school lesbian character

Yeah done it. Same outcome as yours. There seem to be 3 possible endings: Old man, Maya (with or without your approval)

I was hoping for a reasonable young man she’d be ok with. Eh well...

Lame. I don't care that she's a lesbian I just wish she wasn't such a trope.

She’s Merida with a gf... lol. All her [male] suitors suck, everyone bores her, she puts ♥♥♥♥ on her sisters bed cause she’s bored (hilarious isn’t she?), she likes to prance about with her hair free. She’s a free spirit!

Or an irresponsible little twerp that needs a beating :P

Edit: I can imagine how the 13 year old scullery maid that was slaving away 24/7 would think of her. Entitled, lazy, aristocratic brat. I don’t mind the way she was written but as with Merida I hate the character. Selfish lil brats.

Or you know, she's 12. That's what I keep coming back to; ♥♥♥♥ I wasn't right about anything when i was 12 and she's got her whole life figured out? And the game absolutely implies this is the case.

Yup. The game also has her find the ‘love of her life’ at 12. Fat chance. She’d break up in a year. Or come running home a week later when she realised there’s stuff like cooking and laundry and no servants to do it. Best ending for me would have been: Keep the brat at home.

I think most critical thinking primates can agree she is a poorly written character

I do not mind the way she turned out. It just did not come by surprise that she turned out attracted to Maya. And that seems somewhat essential, more than that makes her attracted to the same sex.

To answer the question concisely Yes, Lady Lena's son dies regardless, and the marriage will be cancelled, although her pledge to you will last and she will support you.
But your daughter will hate your decision and hate you for it - that's the trade off.

I also decided to let her go. But I believe it's possible to stop her. I will have to try in my next playthrough.

I do not think any of this is poorly written. It makes sense.

It's poorly written because it makes so much sense. It's boring. She is a trope. She isn't a unique character at all. And no, you can't stop her, that should be obvious because she is poorly written. If you lock her in her room she escapes and hates you, exactly like what you would expect from a rebellious princess character. A well written character/story would've involved more conflict and intrigue than just getting a letter from a pigeon saying "I ran away"

I do not recall any of the ingame's characters to possibly meet your said expectations there. It feels more you got focused on her for being a lesbian, considering your initial post.

Also, depending on your choices, she certainly showed a more indepth level to me in my playthrough, beyond what you may have experienced. Either that, or your perception might be clouded with your weird focus on "generic too cool for school lesbian" thingy.

I agree with you on that. I mean, how many "generic too cool for school lesbian trope" characters exist in other popular media? I can't think of any what so ever.
And even then, I wouldn't say that "too cool for school" is an accurate description. She's more of a rowdy character, but she's not doing it because she's trying to be cool. She just wants to have fun.

Do you just not watch TV or any other media? You both seriously can't think of any tomboy characters that act like that? Who don't want to marry a prince and escape from the tower when they are locked up? Have you seen any Disney movies? Watched Game of Thrones? Read any fantasy book? Like I said my issues with her character was she was predictable. I was upset I married her to an old man so I replayed the game. I am disappointed I was able to correctly predict all her other endings though and again, I think it's a cop out to just get a letter in the mail saying "I've escaped" in a game that I'm playing entirely for the story.

What character in this game isn't a trope? The writing is even thoughout the whole game no one is really better or worse as far as writing goes. And the writing is fine. She's a peson with clear personality traits who evolves a little over the course of the game. Your only evidence that she is poorly written are the list of traits she has. You just don't like her or that kind of character. You just hate seeing a female character that's not a sexist trope and who you can't beat down on since the king can only really be loving. Also that is bs that media is filled with tomboys, people like you attack these characters everyday and tomboys are still very few and far between 'katniss' characters are very feminine still. You just clearly don't want this character to exist, it's not that it's overused. Also Merida was fine. The plot of the movie was weirdly setup but she was a strong character. And yeah as a former teacher--12 year olds can be huge brats!!! The depictions are totally normal.

I don't know why you'd bother to reply to a three year old post. I don't remember the characters or what happened in the game, I just remember it not being very re-playable, so I guess that speaks for the writing.

I liked how As was written, found it cool that you could engage in swordfighting lessons with her (and disappointed they stopped), I was on her side the whole time with all of her decisions (especially making up for the bad decision we're forced to make for Lulie), and felt heartbroken when she asked to leave, but I agreed because she should get a shot at happiness.

That being said, she totally is an overused trope for lesbians. That's fine, most of the story is very cliche, but it's written well enough to hit home, and I think that's more important than whether or not any character is an overused trope. The queen is also an overused trope for non-monarch queens. Dutiful wife, supports the king, wants to bear him a son and is willing to sacrifice her own well-being for it even if the king doesn't ask for it, likes overly frilly things, etc. Pumpkin (her canon nickname as far as im concerned) is also a reverse trope for disney princesses (since all the animals that flock to her don't fare so well), the deserter has a mandatory "i have a family" story to make you question the decision, etc.

None of that matters - they coalesce into a well written story. Predictable? Good, that means it makes sense and it made you pay attention. If you want your expectations to be subverted watch the star wars sequels and come back to tell us how good they are.
