Is Archmage Robes the Best Robes for Mages?

Are the Archmage Robe set the best for mages or is tailoring and enchanting better? If not what is the best set for mages?

Depends on the mage, I'm going to assume you mean either an elemental or arcane mage. For elemental the best is the "Elemental Fury" set that is scattered around on bosses in the darklands, most pieces in the citadel of evil. Arcane has a brand new set that is found in Arcane rifts which you can find by talking to the mage south of the magic academy after level 50.

The red silk set from tailoring is better than arch mage as well, and may be needed to survive in the darklands.

I just cleard the entire darklands + citadel of evil and only got one single piece of elemental fury set....

The full legendary sets don't drop there anymore. After an update a while back, you just purchase them at the Explorers Camp in the Golden Forest.

Every Armor set can be purchased now.. so no need to farm zones.. you just have to hit lvl 40 and complete 1 or 2 quests to acquire them from the NPC
