I can confirm that this game is Online Only.
Despite having an "offline/online" on and off switch, the game will not launch if you are not connected to the car x servers. Henceforth completely defeating the purpose of the "offline mode"

Do the test yourself, disconnect from the internet and try to launch the game it will prompt a "Cannot connect to server, press any keys to exit the game".

What a damn shame... at least I could play completely offline with Car x Drift Online (funnily enough given the title of the game.) we should have a patch that allows us to completely play CarXStreet offline. That should be one of the priorities for the devs.

as much as it's unfortunate that you can't play online, the majority of the features and point of this title is for online

Will the game still save your progress even if you are "off the internet" in the game?
so i do not buy it :) Underground 2 is still playable without an internet connection

when it said offline and online.. it do not mean that you can take off the internet. it just mean that you can play it by yourself or with others racer. and yes mostly every game need internet now and days. it is not the 2000s anymore.

Ignorant comment of yours aside, I will leave you with these pieces of information and let you research the information on your own:
>Game Preservation
>"Play on the Go"
>Server Outage (Server Side)
>Internet Outage (Client Side)
>S I N G L E P L A Y E R

Just look at what happened to The Crew, Warcraft 3 and many other games that were only accessible online. If the next generation of gamers are fine with being screwed over by unscrupulous companies, then so be it, as for me I don't want to be a part of it. I will only support games that align with good customer ethics. (So I guess I'd rather go back to the 2000's in that regard yep you're right.)

If you would read TOS of The Crew, you would know that you agree to play a game that has online services which are not forever and may get taken down.

I mean would you read TOS's everytime you bought a new video game? Or just any consumer product ever? You could use that legal defense in court but you cannot deny that it is incredibly scummy, imagine you buy a movie and a few years later someone from the movie store you bought it from knocks on your door and says "sorry but according to this arbitrary piece of paper, your purchase is now null and void and we have to destroy your copy of the media you rightfully purchased"

Come on man.

I didn't make these rules, it is written black on white. If you don't read them, that's on you. That's why I don't support Denuvo or Chinese games for instance.

Fair enough then. But I don't think being complacent about this issue is gonna help. Ergo, Don't blame the victims of these egregious scummy practices.

Ofc I won't blame people for this but they should be aware of this.

Thank you. I almost bought it. But not like this...
cadeharrison Aug 29, 2024 @ 6:26am
Damn, what a shame. Was going to buy this, but not now.
The-Mighty-Lulnut Aug 29, 2024 @ 6:44am
Saved me $20... at least until the game is made completely playable offline.
