Magnifying Glass and 1st Person mode

I'm at the missing Moari servant case and I know the magnifying glass is supposed to show a missing nail and some fish scales but I've run the magnifying glass over the whole page and nothing has shown up. How do I make the magnifying glass work?

Also, while in first person mode (which I much prefer over only seeing one side of a street at a time) the cursor doesn't show any of the options that appear in the other mode (btw I had to google how to switch modes that info would be helpful provided in the game) sucjh as openable doors or people you can speak too. Is there anyway to get these in first person mode or do I have to keep constantly changing?

Any information would be appreciated. I do really want to play these games.

In first person mode when you walk up to someone you just left click to talk to them. The hand will show up on the door if you can open it and you just left click. Etc.

As for the nail and fish scale, when you find them with the magnifying glass, just left click.

This is a older post, almost a week ago, so I responded but I assume that you must have figured everythign out as you have been back since.

Also, CTRL will switch between 1st and 3rd person.

will not pickup fish scale..and will not allow me to return to 221B without it.. end of game I guess.. oh and resume does not work..wt...
