Black Screen?

Seems like no one else has this issue, but does the game not start for anyone else and is just stuck on a black screen?

Edit: Thanks to some comments, turning off real-time protection in windows defender worked out for me

i have the exact same issue, i didn't want to create a post but you are not alone on this. i was really interested in buying this game at release, but if there is already an issue with a simple demo, it'll be a big pass from me, shame.

Edit: Okay it worked when I turn off Real-Time protection on Windows Security and started the Demo.

Same here, black screen then red cursor where I can type and nothing else happens.

Win10 21H1 - 32GB RAM - AMD 5800H - RTX 3070 (latest driver 472.12) - running on a Gigabyte G27Q (1440p)
Steam restarted, game validated and reinstalled.

.. I mean, y'all could include some more information than "same", you know. It seems to work for most people, so it has to be some specific incompatibility on your end. System Specs? Tried typical solutions like restarting Steam or validating the installation? Maybe you're using a certain anti-malware program that doesn't like Denuvo or smthg? Could be whatever with the lack of information.

Same issue here.
32GB of RAM, AMD 5600X and RX480 with latest driver installed (21.8.2).
Already tried restarting steam, PC and verifing files from steam.
No antivirus or firewall launched while trying to launch this game.
No logs, no errors, just a black screen.
I have no idea what could be wrong with my setup.

finally , I could start this game. It seems blocked by windows defender and you could allow this game to access the protected folders. After that ,restart game , no more black screen.

Windows defender has always done more harm than good for me. I generally have to fight with it concerning games more often than not.

i had black screen too but i fix it
1- open the game file location from libary
2- Right click on the game then properties
3- go to Compatibility
4- change compatibility mode from windows 8 to windows 7
5- check the run this program as an administrator
-finally open the game.

Not seeing that admin mode, compat mode, or granting access to protected folders resolves the black screen (including together). No way i'm disabling real-time AV protection, so this can work. This game is garbage if it requires disabling real-time AV protections to work.

The fix if you dont want to disable realtime protection on defender is:

Windows secutiry > Virus & Threat protection > Manage ransomware protection > Allow an app through Controlled folder access > Add Recently blocked apps > Add the game to this list

This should allow the game to launch as normal without totally disabling your realtime protection.

This magically resolved itself (no idea how). Otherwise, i did have to allow the app through Controlled folder access, but the point at which that was the issue was post black screen. At this point i'm assuming they updated the demo at some point

Same issue, all I had was a black screen with a field for inputting my name (but nothing would happen after that, not even by pressing enter on my keyboard). I fixed it like this:

1) open the game folder (right click on the game in the steam library --> manage --> browse local files)
2) right-click on the game file (the .exe one)
3) go to Properties
4) go to the Compatibility tab
5) enable "Run this program as administrator".

For future reference, I'm running it on a Windows 10 Pro (build 19042), 16 GB ram, NVIDIA GTX 1050 (driver version 27.21.14.6663) as graphics card.
