He literally created that even if he had not said that explicitly about the storyline

The story seems to be that both occur, Gestalt's intro, Replicant's intro, Gestalt, Replicant. They both happen in the timeline, with Gestalt happening before. Gestalt ends with Ending C, Replicant with D -> E.
No idea how, but judging by the fact they're both mentioned, and the years they take place according to the games, that's how both existing is resolved. I think an interview also discussed this?
But I doubt there is a time loop. Original Nier ran off and abandoned project shorly before game's start. Thats what accelerated the rate of relapses, and increased the ammount of shades. Initially twins didnt know where he ran off to (confirmed in-game by additional cutscenes in route C), thats why they worked with replicant Nier at first. There is just way too much stuff needed to be reset in each loop. Not just replicants and their observing androids but also all those relapsed gestalts.
The only logical explanation for both games co-existance is multiple timelines.
My gripe with the game is that i gotta play it on hard to even feel like its not just a cakewalk.
And brother Nier is hot, okay. I enjoy looking at hot guys. This is a W for me.
That Picture look utterly disturbing and not like the original and if the cutscence´s are without the Dad its pointless!!! They should do the work right for that price.
But Replicant is not Gestalt, they are not the same games.
They are not even set in the same time, Gestalt is set 100 years earlier then Replicant and Yonah in Gestalt is a few years younger.
Yoko Taro said multiple times that ONLY the Replicant timeline leads to Nier Automata.
And the whole point of this remaster was to connect the two games more and to include the new final ending "E" that was also written ONLY for the brother.
Papa Nier just does not work with the story Taro wants to tell for this remaster and for the connection to Automata.
Thats all there is to it.
The orginal Gestalt still exists, you can play that if you want Papa Nier.
But for the modern games and the remaster, only brother Nier is the canon.
