Worst fishing system ever

I have to say that i never played a game with a fishing system so messed up and bugged. I'm trying to catch the famous 10 sardines to start the questline for fishing but i't impossible.
At first i've tried with the basic bait but i'tsimpossible: as soon as i start the struggle phase the catch fail, i just make the slight movemet with the controller and the fish escape.
Then i tried taking some lugworm bait and here start the funny part: 10 bait reward me with 8 rusted buckets and 2 cans.
Really, this is a joke system.
I've also tried to pull the lever slight to me that straight dx or sx as said in a reddit post but still no avail.

I have to agree with you! Check a guide it might help you, I haven't played for awhile but I know the last fish to catch was a nightmare, took me forever to land one! Good luck!

Also FYI if you don't have a controller with rumble or vibration, some later fishing basically requires it.

I have one and i feel it, the problem is not catch the exact moment, but when the struggle starts i always lose it immediatly.

There are different levels of vibration. Some fish will nibble first and you can't catch them on the nibble. You have to wait for the strong bite to actually get them on the line.

I'm on the fourth stage of the fishing gambit. It took me a bit to catch on but I figured it out after a few casts, just hold back and then the opposite direction. The bar at the bottom will change a deeper blue color to the optimum position of the analog stick. When it's at or near the middle, stick the analog to the a little bit to either side very carefully and play with the give until the status bar is happy again.

its really easy once you get used to it, i got the sardines in less than 10 min. Use the correct worms for increased chance, talking with the people around gives tips. There is literally a kid near the old fisherman that says lugworms are for blowfishs so obviously not sardines.
