About those memories in the forest of myth
Memories of a kid, a female warrior and a dragon, iirc
Are those some references of some other event? Or just some random memories?

Yes, those are all memories of characters from Drakengard, another series by Yoko Taro.
One of the endings of Drakengard 1 is what lead to the world of Nier timeline.

Angelus, since D3 wasn't out yet.

Also:

kid = Seere

female warrior = Arioch

Also both from D1

I see, could the girl seere mentioned be her sister?

do you reckon they'll remaster the drakengard series any time soon? i'm contemplating playing through them after finishing all of replicant

The problem with Drakengard is... well... they are objectively pretty crap games.
Not in the Nier original way like " this plays pretty clunky and could have needed a bigger budget but the story and OST makes it a secret gem".

More like in the " omg this is such garbage" kind of way.

Drakengard 3 is maybe the most "polished" and it still plays like 3 leagues below the Nier games.
The lore and characters and such are great as ever and even utterly bizarre as expected from Yoko Taro but the gameplay itself has aged like milk.

What that series would need is a complete reboot/remake with budget and new mechanics, i think the chances for that are higher then a remaster collection or something like that.

Of course, all that is just my opinion, there are quiet a few people who like the Drakengard gameplay.

Yeah this guy is on the head with it. I'd really, really love to play Drakengard 1 for its story... but I just can't stomach it. I can't do it past level one, it's unbearably bad.

makes sense, not the first time i've heard that the gameplay aged like milk. i've heard they're not exactly as open level/map design wise and most of it was obscured by heavy fog to hide lack of details. a reboot sounds like a cool next step, considering it'd be a harder remaster than what nier replicant was. maybe i'll just watch a summary or playthrough of the drakengard trilogy instead!

also, do you think there'll be another instalment to the nier series at some point?

edit: apparently there's going to be another nier game! not sure what the scope of it is but here https://www.kitguru.net/gaming/mustafa-mahmoud/square-enix-hires-for-more-nier-games/

Yes I agreed, they really need to remake most of the stuff in the games

I hope its something about the event between Nier Replicant and Nier Automata timeline, like the timeline when alien invades Earth? Just my opinion

Drakengard 1 has a weirdly painful yet satisfying combat system. You have demonic sounding music on every level which sounds like nails on a chalk board, yet you're mindlessly smacking enemies with the most awkward attack animations in any game, but they make such a satisfying crashing sound when they hit the floor that you want to keep doing it for some reason.

I dunno maybe that's what Yoko Taro was going for? You never know what's going through his head.

The kid is (probably) a victim of the White Chlorination Syndrome; the female warrior is a soldier fighting the "Legion" (something that's talked about in the extended lore, it's barely mentioned in the game itself). Both of these take place in-universe sometime between 2004 and 2030, not long before the opening scene of the game. Neither is directly related to Drakengard.

The dragon is referring to Ending E of Drakengard 1. The events of NieR are a direct result of Caim and Angelus destroying the Queen-Beast in Tokyo.
