Buuuuut...well, I like Nier nii-nii look more.
I much prefer Daddy Nier’s VA though
Well, the west didn't have much choice so... .
Very eloquently put, good sir.
i say this to turn the tables as the contrarian.
Let's say this: I prefer not Father Nier; I prefer the relationship between father and daughter.
Big Burly Man > Reject from a Korean boy band, a.k.a. typical shonen protagonist with a life time supply of extra strong hair gel.
They're both typical anime protagonists.
Muscular older man with a missing eye isn't that rare.
It isn't about what's rare. Also I said shonen protagonist. Burly old man isn't a very typical protagonists in an animated cartoon aimed at younger teenage boys.
The design of the younger Nier is as stupid as you'd expected from a typical shonen protag. The young protag looks so silly it takes away from the story and setting. The design of the Father versions fits the overall tone of the game better.
Never played the original game, but somehow I doubt the same amount of maturing could happen convincingly when the protagonist is already a grown man.
I understand that people, especially those who played the original, prefer Papa Nier but Brother Nier is not nearly as bad as these people led me to believe.
I have to admit they fixed the kid in this version somewhat. They especially made his wannabe Cloud hairdo into something more reasonable.
