Brother Nier is pathetic, they should have used Father Nier
Father Nier is a big part of why this game became a cult classic in the west.

Brother Nier belongs in Kingdom Hearts.

I prefer Father Nier because the relationship between father and daughter is stronger, much stronger compared to brother and sister.

Buuuuut...well, I like Nier nii-nii look more.

They both look stupid to me and the father/brother daughter/sister dynamic also makes very little difference IMO.

I much prefer Daddy Nier’s VA though

part 1 brother nier so far is lame to me. i'll be fair and say i don't like him very much in this current state. but the matured version looks like a Sephiroth minion reject and that concept to me is more stylish than some dad at the very least.

i say this to turn the tables as the contrarian.
why tf do people like papa nier i dont get it, its literally a big burly man with dialogue written for a teenager lmfao

Let's say this: I prefer not Father Nier; I prefer the relationship between father and daughter.

Big Burly Man > Reject from a Korean boy band, a.k.a. typical shonen protagonist with a life time supply of extra strong hair gel.

Big Burly Man > Reject from a Korean boy band, a.k.a. typical shonen protagonist with a life time supply of extra strong hair gel.

They're both typical anime protagonists.

Muscular older man with a missing eye isn't that rare.

Dialogue is literally different between Gestalt and Replicant, but ok

It isn't about what's rare. Also I said shonen protagonist. Burly old man isn't a very typical protagonists in an animated cartoon aimed at younger teenage boys.

The design of the younger Nier is as stupid as you'd expected from a typical shonen protag. The young protag looks so silly it takes away from the story and setting. The design of the Father versions fits the overall tone of the game better.

How Brother Nier looks in the second part and how his manners and way he talks change is really cool.
Never played the original game, but somehow I doubt the same amount of maturing could happen convincingly when the protagonist is already a grown man.

I understand that people, especially those who played the original, prefer Papa Nier but Brother Nier is not nearly as bad as these people led me to believe.

I have to admit they fixed the kid in this version somewhat. They especially made his wannabe Cloud hairdo into something more reasonable.
Dad was indeed better but give me a playable waifu instead
