Oh, so you are just parroting propaganda then?
That is better, I guess.
The Republicans are the ones who censor video games. You should do a quick search on this.
It's way worse now, especially due to the methods applied (particularly so in extreme cases like doxing devs and whatnot).
It's escalated very quickly ever since the SJW culture became so rampant and got weaponized by the left.
This has been clear for many years at this point, nothing new really.
[edit]
It should also be noted that a massive difference is made by the fact that when the right attempted to censor stuff, usually under the big umbrella of "think of the kids" they were met with resistance by the actual consumers.
The new method instead abuses the orwellian "useful idiots" to make consumers fight amongst themselves and create the impression that such censorship is what's actually wanted by the majority. This is particularly effective in applying the censorship, but also in destroying business. Examples are abundant not only in the videogame business (see Battlefield V, anything touched by Anita Sarkeesian, who btw is a very succesfull scammer elevated as modern heroine, and many others) but quite a few others like the comic or movie industry, but most importantly real world issues (see antifa or BLM). Measures like those applied for the Covid pandemic could never be put in place 20 years ago, for instance. Video game censorship is just the tip of the iceberg, it's a real social issue at this point.
You don’t understand what free speech is in the USA. It is the right to speak about the government without reprisal from the government. You are perfectly free to face the consequences to the words that come out of your mouth from any other persons or entities.
When people like you complain about “free speech” what you are really complaining about is not having “freedom from consequences” for what you say, which is absurd and childish of course.
Because by that logic, it would.
Your comparison doesn’t make any sense because “free speech” isn’t codified in China law like it is in the USA. People in China don’t have the freedom to go against the government (without reprisals) in any fashion at all.
I didn't make any comparison, you're just evading the question.
Let me paste your exact words: "You are perfectly free to face the consequences to the words that come out of your mouth from any other persons or entities."
The Chinese government is an entity, is it not? The degrading of your social score is the consequence of your speech coming from such an entity.
So I ask again, do you think that's upholding free speech?
Let me put it this way, so we remove governments from the equation.
Should you lose your job for expressing an opinion on twitter? Would you say that's in line with the free speech concept?
What part of ‘free speech is not a thing in China’ are you not understanding here? You have the answer to your question if you can understand that.
Yup absolutely you can. That is how free speech works in the USA. Whether or not you should or if that is a good thing is an entirely different morale/ethical problem but it has nothing to do with “free speech”.
