Bluetooth FPS drop fix
When using my DS4 both with and without DS4Windows I'd randomly get a massive FPS drop down to 14 frames that would last for a few seconds, even in the main menu. I saw people mention that bluetooth was causing this so I tried a wired third party 360 controller and it's been great since. Has anyone had any luck getting wireless controllers working however? I'd rather use my DS4 on the tv instead of being sat at my desk with a wired controller.

I've been using my ps5 controller wirelessly for a few hours now and have never seen the fps drops many people seem to get. Maybe it only happens with ds4?

There is definitly some weirdness going on with how the game handles input though. I have to turn on the controller after launching the game, if it's on before that the game won't even recognize it.

Dang, that's a really odd one alright, usually that'd cause all manner of trouble. I sorted my issue with Special K thankfully, disabling PS4 HID worked a treat

Blame steams crappy controller driver.

Yeah, Special K forces a total disable of that.
Glad it works for you ^^

Welcome to the normalcy of Bluetooth - this is normal. You'd be surprised just how trashy the technology really is. it's the main reason I gave up on anything wireless in terms of gaming. (Impacts A LOT of things)

It works fine now with bluetooth, was just an issue with how it was interpreting controller input. Was glad I could sort it though because I don't have a substantial micro usb cable and didn't wanna use a third party 360 controller

While I agree bluetooth is ♥♥♥♥ and one of the worst things ever invented... I don't think this applies here.

I connect my controller aftere the game laucnhes.
i use a ds4, but yeah. native support, dont use the steam settings, and dont use ds4 windows if you're on a ds4 or 5.
just conmnect the contoller after th game has laucnhed.
if its by wire, then plug it in after.
if its by bluetooth, just don't connect the controller till th game is launched.

idky this works, it just does.

you still get xbox icons, regardless.

Actually it does - I've seen this impact a lot of different games.
You need to remember Bluetooth is also considered a network device.
Not just an input device.
Windows spends a lot of wasted processing power and time ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around when it comes to anything bluetooth.

In this case you're lucky its just an input issue. But I've seen it grow into much bigger nasty issues in my experience.

Your better off using 2.4/5Ghz Wireless tech or something dedicated dongle wise that is not bluetooth if your insistent on wireless.

Heck even my wireless trackball has a personality that makes it annoying to me (I use for my work rig not main rig)

Hence my mantra - wireless - or nuthin.

Now my Switch? Yeah it works fine. Consoles? Sure.

Windows? Can't trust it to handle wireless anything. Cause Windows.

My biggest gripe with Bluetooth as a tech? Piss poor bandwidth in terms of audio.

Possible, it just seems like controller issues exist bluetooth or not.
