D ALWAYS leads to E.
E was the canon ending for Replicant since 2012.
They could not release it in the original game as planed because of money and time constraints but ending E was released in 2012 in the " Grimoire Nier"compendium as a short story and was always the "true end" to Replicant.
Its just now the first time in the game. And of course E leads into Automata.
The administrators collect the Kaine combat data during E and create YoRHa and the combat androids from it.
Thats why the androids in Automata have Kaine´s fighting style and some even huge parts of her personality, strongest in the prototype series like A2.
They simply fight with swords(and not even all of them), they do not have Kainé's fighting style.
And the thing about Kainé's personality being used as base for A2 is literally false, especially since A2's personality was initially completely different, it's only after the Pearl Harbor Descent that she becomes the cold/harsh one we see in the game.
While the rest is correct(about E always happening after D and that E has always been a thing that does lead to Automata), let's not push headcanons and speculations as facts.
Does not look very good. Today they announced that Automata sold 6 million copies so far, Replicant barely 1 million.
To reach half the Automata sales it would take quiet a bit and , Taro and the Nier team are already working on their next game.
I am pretty sure the " if Replicant sells half as many copies as Automata we may consider a Papa Nier DLC" was a joke anyway.
If you see the original stream where it was said both are laughing when saying that and it was never ever mentioned again after that.
So i see the chances of a official Papa Nier DLC as basically zero.
A lot of users seem to take that stream answer for full value and that a Dad DLC is just a matter of time.
Thats what i meant with "not looking good".
For Replicant itself 1 mil sales are more then good, its just a remaster and thats already nearly double the lifetime sales of the original game .
Maybe but even so, I'm still gonna hope for a Papa Nier DLC in the later future. I know both Taro may sound like it was joke and said saying "Don't count on it" but you know Taro, he like to troll people so you can never take him at his words.
The ending E which is the canon ending lead to Automata made with brother Nier in mind and Brother Nier was always the canon version
Brother NieR cycle ends at ending E at
3465-3473.
You realize that ending E has existed for 10 years in form of a short story?
And ONLY ever had the brother?
And that Yoko Taro said the story was only written for the brother because the brother is the only one who would choose ending D which leads to E while the father would choose C, making that timeline a dead end which does not lead to Automata.
You can hope as much as you want but there wont be any Papa Nier DLC and definitely no Papa Nier in ending E.
