Assuming you like masterpieces, yeah.

But more specifically, if you enjoy "experimental" gameplay, fantastic stories, music that you'll listen to long after beating the game, and themes that are supported by almost everything in the game (and if you can handle the emotional impact this game hits you with). You'll love this.

Yeah, it's a remake of the original so you don't need to have played Automata

It's pretty depressing though lol. Definitely play Route B after you beat the game for the first time to get the full experience (C and D aren't as radically different, only the ending, if you don't want to earn them you can always watch them online, but it's not as powerful IMO)

If you don't want to drop the money you could check out/emulate the PS3 version beforehand, but that's the Gestalt version of the game, where you play as an older protagonist

Answering that question is very difficult. What games do you like? What do you not?
For some what is fun is boring for others. For some what is fun is punishing for others. For some what is fun is bad game design for others.

Thanks for your insight. I pre-purchased the game today. Coming from Devil May Cry series, this game looks interesting!

If you have NEVER played the North American PS3 Nier? Absolutely.

If you HAVE played the NA PS3 Nier? Maybe. From what I understand, there are some new scenes and the graphics look A LOT better but it is not as great a leap as Resident Evil 2 Remake was...

The combat even with the updates shown in the remaster doesn't come close to Devil May Cry's quality and fun. It's very simplistic, has no combo potential. The enemies are very stupid, lack variety and present no challenge. They just sit there and wait for you to hit them. There is a weapon so overpowered it renders all the other weapons useless, which further adds to the repetitive nature of the game.

Worse is the fact that you're supposed to replay it 4 times to get the full narrative with barely any gameplay difference, just a couple story changes when you hit the endings. Automata at least changed up it's 3rd route completely so it didn't feel as repetitive.

There's also the question whether the PC port will be decent enough. Looking at Automata, it has launched with a PC port that's full of technical issues. 4 years later and no updates whatsoever here on steam. Look at recent steam reviews.

I see people here calling it a masterpiece, but they are clearly not speaking objectively. The old title from 2010 has an average of 68 on metacritic, it was plagued by many issues which may very well exist in this newer version.

In conclusion, since you already pre-ordered I advise you cancel your pre-order and wait for the game's release. Wait for the critic scores and see if the steam version won't be filled with technical issues just like Automata. Giving Square Enix your money by pre-ordering is a poor decision considering it further promotes their unethical behaviour towards their customers.

"Wait for the critic scores."

HA!

I'd wait. The game is good or at least the original version from years ago that I played, the gameplay in this version is completely overhauled. But apparently official patches and support may be exclusive to other store fronts.

just consider the latest move made by SE by delivering better version on Microsoft Store while leaving the Steam version as it is...
honestly, I love N:A, the story was beautiful, the soundtracks were great (heck, I even put all of the soundtrack in my playlist on Spotify)... got some issues, but, okay, I'm still waiting for SE's promise back from 2017 for the fix. then came Become Gods Edition on Ms Store with fixes and improvement and said nothing at all for those who bought it on Steam..
all and all... it's your choice....
CPUB0T 2021 年 3 月 27 日 下午 2:16
With the latest issue of SE favoring one PC version (of the same game) over the other, there will always be the risk that the publisher will release a better updated version of this game through another store front, neglecting their customers who bought the game early. Like others of said, with that in mind, its your choice.

I don't understand. OP must be a hypocrite, They pre-ordered Nier Replicant, yet they have been very vocal in the Nier Automata threads about Square Enix being a shameless and unethical company for delivering low effort ports on steam, while MS store received superior versions.

OP, Pre-ordering Square Enix's games before they fixed the lackluster ports such as Automata just further encourages them to disregard the criticism you gave and continue to underdeliver experiences on the Steam platform.

Unless, you have the 300 IQ move of buying the game just to drop a negative review and refund, it makes no sense what you did here.
Pika-Luke 2021 年 3 月 27 日 下午 11:14
If you want no patches to the game then yes. If you want a fully working game then wait some years to get a new name and a patch. This company is trash that i might buy a key for cheap then give a bad review for it.

This is worth it as they need to know that people don't stand for it.

I do agree with what you said but it's HIS money so it's totally up to him to decide how he's going to spend it, and just in case if you're going to insult me I preordered the game way before SE release the game pass ver.

Just so you know this version is not a port and it's being develop together with the console version. As for the repetitive route SE did mentioned that they will change it.

Route B is only the last 2 hours of the game and there's new and very crucial cutscenes to the story

Agreed on C and D though, even if the ending is really good it's no fun getting there especially considering you've seen all the new content of B. ♥♥♥♥ the Junk Heap
