kaine petrify crash
after i chose to petrify kaine my game crashes someone know how to fix this ?

from what I've gathered, it happens due to the cutscene that plays afterwards needing a special video codec. some guy fixed it by moving to windows 10. I use linux so I cant use windows 10 so if you find any other fix I would like to know.

This has happened to me as well, playing it on my gaming rig which is still on Windows 7. That is interesting to hear its a codec thing potentially, might be a fix for it once its identified.

Alright found a fix for this. For Win 7 users, you need a particular dll file in your windows/system32 folder. Easy way to get it, and probably why not all win7 users have been affected by this problem, is if you have updated Internet Explorer 11. That will get you the right dll file and it fixed it for me.

Finally works! get the file MshtmlMedia.dll and put it into system32

If you are on Win7 and installing IE11 doesn't get the DLL in the right place for it to work I have no idea what to try next.

If you want to play on windows 7, download DXVK and place the dxgi.dll and d3d11.dll files it provides into the same folder as the nier replicant exe file and play as normal, all the cutscenes will work.

NEWS!!!!!!!

the only solution I could find is to change the version of Windows 10, apparently some versions of Windows 10 do not have the necessary files to run the cinematic after the election, now I can play perfectly but the truth is a shame that we have these problems and arrive to these extremes to be able to play normally

I know I'm late but I found a solution to that problem

I replaced the cutscenes with this a 4k mod version.
Installed the AV1 version and it's working !
Don't forget to install the video codec :)
