Food stuck in Algae Farms - Why won't it stockpile???
I know I must be doing something wrong. But my algae farms are always full of food despite my open food stockpile next to it being way below capacity. I have no food to move to other sectors because it's all jammed up in the algae farms, help!

Have you added your food storage to the transfer panel by checking the box left of it and setting it to minimum quantity ? Also set number of food to stock in other sectors ?
Is the stockpile next to the algae farm connected to a road, as in turned in the right direction ?

I wonder if I've found the problem. Because i produce so much food, i had the food going to one of the Large stockpiles. I know there are a set number of golf buggys per storage (like 6 or something?). Does this mean a Large storage still only has 6 buggys, just like a Small storage?

So for something that needs to get distributed to all sectors, is it better to have many small storages (for maximum movement) rather than one Large storage (for space efficiency)?

Yes to all of these, thanks though. I'm trialling lots of small storages to see if it helps.

Ok, I have found the answer. Many small storages, to maximise movement out of the farms through provision of a horde of golf buggys!

That is what i did too. Multiple storages in the food district. Speeds up delivery and collecting. Good that you found a fix.

Yes, the problem is the amount of transports. Five per stockpile, by the way. Six with an upgrade. Bigger stockpiles have the same amount of transports, they just build a bigger buffer. So for exporting to other sectors, you need a lot of transports... Which are then not available for use in the original sector. Would have been nice to be able to designate stockpiles as export ones and have other stockpiles feed into those.

Yes, the transporters are pretty limiting, and reduce the effectiveness of the upgraded stockpile sizes, even!

My food export sector had 10 small food stockpiles and only just barely could get the 150 food or so needed by the population sector within 5 cycles.

Later on, drones just fix everything!
