New game -> start with 80 people

1 minute later you have 79, 1 died, why? no clue.

Maybe you're confusing it with crew that goes into ships, i think they get reduced from your population count. I also was thinking how did i loose someone then i realized that its the crew of the ships. Different ships take different number of people as crew.

If they dont have an achievement for 0 deaths then probably its not possible.

No that's not it, i mean yes crew get into ships 1 for freighter 5 for science, etc. and their not counted as population anymore.

What i mean is, you start a new game, 80 crew, 1 minute later 79 crew left, and 1 death count in the data sheet. At this point we don't have ships or anything yet.

Well, sure, but that's a lot of effort and breaking the spirit of the game to avoid some story-driven casualties.

Making you to choose between bad and very bad but making you think that it's between bad and good is a wrong move to pull.
Yeah, but those options are from the Administrator's point of view. It even has ellipses after it ("they'll make it...") unlike any other science choice in the game. The admin believes they'll make it due to their exoskeletons, but ultimately they fail. I waited the whole day for them in the drone swarm, so sad.

science crew and ship deaths aren't counted only overwork deaths.

Did you build a ship? Most probably yes, then 1 of your people is now in the ship, thus in the "space" category and no longer linked to a sector.

It is possible, but only because of a bug. accidents only appear after a sector is overworked the first time. so if you never let a sector be overworked, then you will never have accidents.
mazrados Dec 22, 2022 @ 5:27pm
Nope. It's impossible.

Even if accident happened immediately, accident that happen due to Optimal work condition are never killing anyone. Only wounding them.
Having adhequate medical facility would result in no death.

A no death run is not possible, as story event will always kill 5 of your science crew no matter the choice, all the rest are avoidable.

Non-optimal work conditions. The game is very unforgiving on that one. Occasionally you get an accident the second a new building goes online and dips you into extra hours (always cut electricity to new buildings).

Accidents on extra hours are guaranteed. I literally had an accident pop up with time paused because i turned a building on that caused extra hours.
Lizard Dec 23, 2022 @ 5:19am
I am now at chapter 4 with over 5000 people, no death, but 160 colonists disappeared on me. I think the first overwork accident is guaranteed to kill someone, so you must never let it happen.
mazrados Dec 23, 2022 @ 10:50am
@Lizard I don't believe that you did not load the game every time someone died. There are several accidents per minute even in perfect conditions (not even extra hours in any sector) and sometimes people die, no matter how good health care is. It is just impossible in honest playthrough to not loose anybody.

The only way to not loose anyone is by cheating with loading and reading about science expeditions outcomes.
