IXION
Any other game like this?
I really enjoy the game so far (just started ACT5, ACT4 was really really exciting).

Apart from Frostpunk (I havent played that but I read its kinda the same), is there any game with like this - I'm especially hooked on its storytelling and the grim, bit distopian style.
I also like the constant optimisation, and the resource management aspcts (I'm a real hoarder, and I like the game does not force me too much to move to the next system but I have some breathing space).

So what would you suggest me to go next? (I dont think I want to replay the game)
Similar games I played so far: Cleopatra (good old stuff), Mindustry, Oxigen Not Included...

I prefer modern, scifi settings...

If you liked cleopatra, you would also like Zeus and Maybe also older Caesar games.
An interesting ressource management game still in early access: the wantedring village.
Also the Anno games especially Anno 1404 and Anno 1800, there is also a Sci fi anno, but I never played it so I can't really recommend it.

Now as you mention, indeed I played all the Ceaser series game (it was just long time).
Some of the anno's well...

The game mechanics are similar, but they dont really have the story to drive me to progress...
Endzone: A World Apart is a pretty good game as well. It's relatively close to what you'd get out of Frostpunk (which is really great). Aquatico is an okay game that's kinda of clone of Endzone but underwater.

I'm a big fan of all the Anno games even 2070 and 2205 so definitely second those. Surviving Mars is also another pretty good sci-fi game, a diamond in the rough.

You can also get lost if you get sucked into automation games like Satisfactory or Factorio.

Can you link which "aftermath" game you are referring to? :)

This one, got it for free on epic a while ago and really enjoyed it. There was even some kind of challenge mode where it's getting colder that made me think of Frostpunk.

It's often on sale at -75%

Not really. The difference between this and a city builder or city survival game is the story, lore, and cinematic experience visually. Plus the music is superb.

A city builder or similar genre with an overarching narrative and story structure better than say Anno 2205 was what I got this one.
Dune Spice Wars and Northgard both are kind of logistics games of optimizing resources, but they add some combat. And not much story to them either. Frostpunk is the closest to Ixion.

agree on dune: spice wars. It really hooked me up but I'm also a dune fan...having read the novels and played all dune games that ever existed. Unsure how well a novice will like it. In a similar vein as Dune spice wars you have Northgard, which is the game that the devs did before Dune spice wars and it's pretty similar, but in a Viking setting.

But those are more RTS than basebuilding.

From a storytelling perpective, I would also suggest the Homeworld series, which Axions blatantly rips off the story. But it's a 3D RTS, not a basebuilding game.

Im pretty old to know Dune, played Dune 1 & 2 on Commodore Amiga... but for me, that world didn't really aged well, so if only the franchise makes the game exceptional, then probably its not for me.
