My favorite food sector layout but...

as you can see, the top left corner marked with X is not working, so I have to built the zone 1 a cross road to connect from other side, which is a shame, because if I could get rid of those road in zone 1 , it can fit more stuff, now its left with 2x3 space between 2 batteries.

lol ... that is wayyyyyy too much food produced. even with a high food policy for 5000 people.

i was feeding 5000 people with just 2x9 Farms and 2 Fungus walls, and still at 133% of food requirement lol, the trick is to have most of your population in 1-2 sector and have those at -25% food usage. this cuts drastically food consumption, also dont overlook Mess hall upgrade ... 1 food will feed +60% MORE.

that is just way too aggressive of a setup (imo) and will use too much staff/energy and water, algae farm are totally useless as they generate no waste.

t2 batteries are a waste of space and resources, they take as much space as 4 small ones but provide less total power and charge slower, t3 batteries are better all around but charge a bit slower than smaller batteries.. and you only need 1 per sector.

Basically i would say.

main buildings for production : 2x9 Farms + 1 Station + 2 Large water storage + 1 large Food Storage + 1 medium waste storage+ 1 Drone station (important for food and waste logistics) + 1-2 large battery + 2-4 Fungus + 2 Ceiling house (once you got upgrades for waste)

Alternatively you could do 3x7 farms with 2 Fusion Plant, just because more water storage and ... more waste, and more waste is always better.

for support : DLS+Night Club+Fire+2 Infirmary+Monument+hull temple+train station (with an Exo dome somewhere)

just to put in light.... 70 power is as many as 1.5 fully loaded farms.

basically in your setup you have almost 50% of your whole sector wasted in my opinion.
all your bug farms serve no purpose, except wasting 70 power and over 50 workers.

Normal Farms = load of food, load of waste.
Bug or algae = no waste make them a losing solution to begin with. because Waste can be used for so much stuff... like making Alloy/Polymer/chips on demand, particularly when you have no raw resources to make them.

EDIT: also feels like research point wasted to unlock algae or any upgrades, or increase bug farms upgrades more efficient to just boost your Farms really.

Algae farms do produce waste. Those insect farms are obsolete and should be removed unless you are doing it for the aesthetic. Also it appears from that screen shot that you have no roads connecting to the sector on the right. What good is your food sector if it has to go all the way around the station just to transport to the people next door?

you can feed a good few thousand with this layout, only 180 workers ( intense Policy )
with space left for a Nuclear Power Plant or a Waste Treatment Center or whatever you need
