People starve even though there are enough food in mess hall

As mentioned in the topic,
I have a functional mess hall
I have enough food in storage
The mess hall is giving me a green checkmark
After the eating cycle is over, I got 10 people starving. All the food from the mess hall has been consumed already.
Then, the mess hall get to fill up again, giving me a green checkmark
After the second eating cycle, now I have 80 people starving.
And my crew eventually die out
This only happens to a single sector.

Clarification: I have less than 500 people in the sector

Just clarify do you have multiple sectors open? And if so do you have a messhall and associated storage in each sector? Do you have more than 500 people in the sector with the messhall?

I opened 5 sectors. I only have 100 people in that sector. As I already said, the mess hall give me a green checkmark. So not having enough food is impossible. I got 50 food in storage in that sector.

sometimes you need 2 mess halls to be able to distribute all the food in the meal cycle with to many people, or the travel time from stockpile to mess hall is too long

There is a bug in the game, where you have to turn off and turn on the mess hall again.

Same with population in housing. It calculates wrong for some reason now and then.

I only have 100 people. It's not the issue

I had this too. Had to dismantle and rebuild it before it would receive food again.

same problem, 300 peoples, 2 mess halls, 3 food cycles with my mess full of food on plentifull decret. The stockage is full to 110. They all starve to death...

I posted this in discord already. If they can't fix this anytime soon I'm going to try reload a save 1 hour ago

I have the same issue atm. Plenty of food in storage and a mess hall in both sectors. Yet still people are starving.

I don't know if this is the cause but I noticed this happening when I migrated people during the food cycle. So I suspect they entered the new sector exactly at the moment when food was distributed. At that moment there was not enough food in the mess hall.

I had the same issue today. Found this topic. Cycling power on the mess hall did not help me. What i did to solve i i transfer all my crew away from the sector with the problem, and then back again. Solved it for me.

wait, is it your fifth sector too? Same thing is happening on my fifth. only has 100 people and its easily feeding them.....

Was sector 6 for me, but i think its safe to assume it can happen in any sector
