Only one cargo ship per dock?

Can I not not build more than one mining or cargo ship per dock?

You can have three in a dock, but you can only build one at a time. Select the dock and click the +. You can also move ships between docks in the interface.

Just to clarify my question, can you have three cargo ships in the one dock? I see no "+" or option to build more than the mining, cargo, science ships I have assigned to this dock.

You can build multiple docks but you only get 3 slots for ships in each.

Thx, the only "+" sign I get is to unassign, you can then build another ship but it won't "join" the dock and is not controllable.

Thx, but I was asking about multiples of types, ie 2 cargo from one dock etc, which it appears you cannot do.

Yes you can, he's literally showing you a dock with 2 cargo ships, and building a third.

Sorry, I have not explained myself well. I have one of each ship from sector 1 dock. I want to get two cargos from sector 1 dock as well as the others I already have, i.e. four ships in total

You simply pick another of the type you want instead of one of each type when you build. That's all there is to it.

It's at most 3 ships per dock, yes. When doing a jump all ships must return to the Tiqqun, so if you'd have more ships they'd get lost. :-o

You can move ships to other docks as well, so there's no problem redistributing them around. You want to spread your cargo ships around anyways, because then you get to use all the storage of your different docks. And you probably want a dedicated iron dock where they only deliver iron so your iron supply doesn't get clogged by other stuff.

As far as I know (I'm at 3rd system), you can build as many ships as you can, but each dock can only employ 3 ships at a time. The others are put in reserve. You can change the config of these 3 active ships by 'unassign' (the triangle symbos below the ship) any one and add other one/type. So you surely can have 3 cargo ships working at the same time.
