So where DO I find iron?
My hull is deteriorating at a fantastic rate, yet I can't find the iron I need to repair it. What am I supposed to do?

Does anybody have an answer?

Use a probe to find iron, use a mining vessel to mine the iron, use a cargo ship to transport the iron to the Tiqqun, use a steel mill to turn iron into alloy.

You make a probe first, then you go on sector map and you click on a probe below in the middle and you hover around the sector finding so called FE - iron. It will appear as green when youre on the spot. Then you send a mining ship and then freighter to pick it up.

Hello.

You'll need to unlock tech for the smelter. You'll need a probe to locate "FE" deposits to drill, then have your cargo ship obtain them to deliver to your dock bay.

You'll need to then convert FE to Alloy. It is 15 FE to (memory is lacking) I think 15 alloy every 5 cycles or something.

Simples! Except, probes cost iron and they don't seem to be finding any. I'll keep looking I guess.

Probes don't cost iron. And it's pretty much guaranteed to find iron, if you use the probing sensor correctly. Only send probes to where the bars for iron turn green, preferrably close to the Tiqqun.

Thanks. I see the problem now. I've found Fe but it's not producing alloy quick enough to repair the hull. I thought it was because I needed more iron.

One steel mill should produce enough alloy for one EVA airlock. Perhaps the asteroid you're mining is too far away, so transporting the iron (Fe) takes too long?

you can move the Tiqqun closer to your FE deposits to cut down travel time for your cargo ships

Remember, you don't need your HP at max. You can leave it drop and with one EVA on repairs, it'll stop declining around 50% health.
