I'd rather not be part of that and want to have it as an OPT-IN option - like Cyberpunk 2077 has.

The Callisto Protocol & Marvel's Midnight Suns are two recent examples of how wrong you are - neither game is getting great reviews after really awful releases and based on the comments, very likely had nothing to do with how dirty ppls systems are.
There was a controvery less than a week ago regarding Marvel's Midnight Suns, which had Denuvo and did not list that fact on its Steam page. It took the publishers several days (and perhaps a community outcry) to fix that error: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/zada30/marvels_midnight_suns_has_denuvo_and_that_fact/
So, the question about Denuvo is perfectly legitimate to ask these days, regardless of what the front page says.
