The CEO speaks in a very cryptic way how this is the 'epilogue' of Earth and all that, as if Earth is about to go boom.
Despite the fact that visually it looks pretty okay. Not even flooded like in Hardspace Shipbreaker or something.
with how the last thing you see form home is a shuttle full of additional personnel and food supplies
Do wonder if we stay in Proxima, or we can explore around an area of the galaxy for a new home. It would be a shame to not use the FTL drive again.
I'm just making a wild guess cause I haven't played the demo yet.
However, why would the moon base be abandoned and why did it seem Mars only had a token base - it would have been easier to colonize both of them using resources in-system that obviously were easy to get to based on the technology they already had.
I hope that entire thing isn't just some shallow plot point though to indicate that you're now cut off from Earth, so there won't be any help or supplies forthcoming. An actual mystery to solve within the game would be nice.
Based on the teaser, UN did send ships to outer-space for colonization, but failed.
