Doesn't seem like you received a reply on this so I'll try and help if I can...

I installed this and at first it launched fine and I was able to configure control and video options and after later restarting the computer it wouldn't launch, instead I got a blank blaack screen within what appeared to be the game in windowed mode which I had not set it to launch with and it froze the whole computer. From what I could see it appeared to be an issue with connecting to Steam so if that's an issue if you run Steam in Big Picture mode I would suggest coming back to the standard view and making sure that Steam in online, if you can browse the store at least then you're online. And then go to your library and try running Smash Cars.

This is a weird one, I came across a review of the title on YouTube which was originally realeased for the PS3 and they then created a PC version. It's anyway obvious since if you look at the controller setup options you get keyboard, driving wheel and a PS controller. I don't know why Steam lists this as having partial controller support, what does that mean in practice? Does a PS3 controller work with Windows?

Before purchasing I noted the controller options, or the lack of and was pepared to map the keyboard controls to an XBox 360 controller using the Pinnacle Profile software which I use for many titles. If takes a bit of time but once setup then you're good to go.

For an arcade style title I would say that this one is quite difficult to play. There are no skill level options and with only one car and two tracks unlocked and finding it difficult to win a race I'm finding it difficult to proceed plus I couldn't find any unlock or cheat codes. It's mainly keeping the car moving straight that I have an issue with, maybe it's the car or the track or just me as my four year old son seemed to be doing a lot better than I :)

Sorry back again as I see now what you mean..

There's a long list of forum posts on this one here http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=1251

In my initial respoonse above I was referring to the game running on a 32 bit Windows 8 Pro notebook with and NVidia GPU connected to a 1920 x 1200 external monitor via DVI on which the game runs fine.

I have now tried it also on a 64 bit Windows 7 Pro PC with an ATI GPU hooked to a TV (1366 x 768 via VGA) and it doesn't run, just sits there with a blank screen so I had to Alt-Tab out of it and quit. I've tried adding compatibility settings but nothing's working right now so let me know if you get it working as well :)

I fixed it, last time I had my laptop hooked up to tv I forgot to change aspect ratio back to 16:9. I had it set for tv at 4:3. Thanks for your help though!!!!

Ok, great that you got it working. It might be then that the copy I have installed on the x64 Win 7 Pro hooked to an LCD TV might have an aspect ratio setting of 4:3 or something, although that would be odd? I've deleted the config file in the games own folder which the game appeared to recreate which would I assume include the correct aspect ratio. Anyway I'll give it another go later changing the aspect ratio on the TV or by using the arrow and enter keys to change the options in the game although I can't see the screen so I use the working install on the other PC to count the number of clicks :)
