i'm at level 2 currently and every single race im in i get last place because everybody else is in a better car. i cant even catch up at top speed. i chose the small yellow car you see at the start of the game, its all the way to the left in the tutorial

You use RP earned by just driving to upgrade your car. As you drive more you get better. There's nothing else to say because training wheels are not part of the game. Good Luck! Really!

Yeah. It's common for new players. Don't expect mercy from other players. RP / XP is primarily earned through distance driven in a race. So, try to not let being competitive early cause you to quit. Try to grind as much RP as possible. Basic upgrades become available at lvl 4, 6, 8 & 11. Go for performance upgrades first. (duh) Tip: look for rooms with longer races (more laps), you get more RP / XP per race (saves a little time leveling).

You have to invest the time to be fast and good. I have 80,000 miles driving in this game over 12 years. I can play with keyboard as well as most race wheel drivers. KB is faster! I've even played against Nico Rosburg in this game and beaten him. Got a vid of him cheating too! When he was a kid 12 years ago.

No worries, you will get used to the driving in PT. This game has unique arcade physics but if you want a better physics, try leveling up til 10 to unlock the SIM mode.

Warning: You need to use Controller or steering wheel. Using KB on SIM mode will not be great experience, trust me :3

If you like having fun with no traction control, no anti lock brakes, nothing but go cart physics without lots of setup....then SIM is your game. If you like having fun racing close with a chance of recovery and catching up. Arcade is the way to go. If i'm going to do a lot of setup it's going to be with a premium game like Project Cars or Assetto Corsa. Those are worth the investment of attention. PT is a fun game and when taken so seriously you try to sim it, you lose interest and stop playing. Just like before. Last time it died. The best tracks are best played in ARCADE MODE. So MORE PLAYERS will join. If we like the game and want it to stay active. Pass worded rooms and limiting who joins is the worst part of this game. I like getting fast lap times and top speeds. Running all over the track like formula one is work. Not near as much fun. Remember that prestige here is nothing in reality. I'm just here to go faster than you guys! Also, if nobody buys bonus stuff like flaming tires, girls and bonus, it will die again and all the faithful players will lose their investment of time and money. So it pay to play AND HAVE MORE FUN! While keeping the game online. Take the stick out and play to fill the rooms and have fun people!
