Human with red HP bar and white name "Animal" above it?

With the most recent patch, the game improved very much! With more options to adapt the game to my wishes, it shows that the developer really listens to his community.

More animals with correct movements, some easy to kill, others ... uhm ... easy for them to kill ME ;) I think I will get the hang of attack and move back with time.

Shortly before I left the game for today (just ran back to my home location), I stumbled about a human being, which had the red bar above its head, and a white name "Animal" above the red bar. It died one-hit but did not drop loot.

I thought this game is Singleplayer only (so far), so how comes it to this named human? Or is it Multiplayer and I killed an other player without knowing??? If so, I am very sorry for it.

Curious what I will see tomorrow :D
