[Linux] Fullscreen mode not working
I tried fullscreen option, but the game stays windowed, even after a restart

Ubuntu 12.04, Unity 2d, binary nvidia driver.

Hello, Scrawl.

The game relies on the wmctrl library for fullscreen support.
We are working on an update to the fullscreen issues that will cut the dependency on wmctrl. I estimate it will be out late January but I can't promise 100%.

For the moment, if you want, please install the "wmctrl" package.

WMCTRL t is a free Extended Windows Manager, GNU licenced, compatible with practically every modern X windows manager. It can be found at http://tomas.styblo.name/wmctrl/

You can install it by running:

sudo apt-get install wmctrl

If you do not use wmctrl, and prefer another library disable the game's fullscreen option, so that it will not conflict with your actions

Running the game in fullscreen will temporarily change your desktop’s resolution. When you quit the game, it will return your resolution to its initial settings.

Please do not change your desktop’s resolution while the game is running. It will conflict with the game and upon quitting the desktop's resolution might be reset and your changes could be lost.

Cheers

Thanks, installing wmctrl fixed the fullscreen issue for me, as well as the still visible normal mouse cursor. :)

The only thing that bothers me so far, is that the intro scene before getting to the menu, while nice, doesn't seem to be skippable.
Now time to try the actual game.

Glad it worked! With regards to the intro movie, I think that after the first time you watch it, you can click to skip it. Let me know if it keeps giving you trouble!

How do you undo the Full screen selection out of the game - since it's not working for me - I just get the steam app up with my library and the game is then "hidden" behind the steam program.

I found out, that when fullscreen mode has been enabled - then every other program has to be minimized in order for the game to be at the foreground of the screen.

Hello, Juzz.

If you go to options you can de-activate the fullscreen mode.

Out of curiosity, do you have wmctrl installed?

Cheers,

Maria

It's a bit difficult to get to options, when another program is shown in the foreground - but like I said, I just had to minimize every other program that was open and then I got the game showing properly.
I did see that you had recommended wmctrl to be installed, so yes, I did that.

Cheers

Pixelsprite,

The problem I reported seems to be an AMD driver thing - I've now tested the game on a laptop using Intel driver, and there the game got focus proper and was in the foreground.

I have just bought this game and I have the same issue. I'll wait to the fix at the moment.

window focus and stacking are badly messed up if i install wmctrl, and with or without it the game constantly tries to change the screen resolution regardless of whether fullscreen is selected in options.

It's playable as long as I don't install wmctrl, but the frequent attempts to change resolution are quite annoying.

I have the same issue as pseudonym404 with this game where it constantly tries to change the resolution regardless of whether full screen si enabled or not causing my dual monitors to blank out for a few seconds. My window manager is i3 and I have previousely seen the same behaviour in wmii.

has this full screen issue been fixed? I'm scared to install wmctrl. I do things like that and my computer never works the same. I can zoom in, but only to one area - too hard to see and locate things :( OH, I'M USING WINDOWS 8.1
