Regiments

Regiments

Regiments vs Armoured brigade
Can someone compare this two games? For me, personaly, I admire depth and either easy handling of the AB. Regiments seems to me fully arcadish like World in conflict.

I haven't played Armoured Brigade (yet), but Regiments is less arcadish than World in Conflict.

First of all, there's an active pause (= you can give orders while the game is paused).

Second, with realistic-ish range and speed of movement, Regiments is much more about careful planning than quick reaction/clickfest : if you don't have the right unit at the right time/place, no amount of fast clicking will change that.
I dont care about active pause, movement is not realistic at all according to videos. I am interesting in the morale system, ballistic tables / armour vs penetration etc. Visual about the Regiments looks like great, but when i see gameplays, it seems very simplistic.... at least it seems so.... i hope i am wrong.

I hope you do realize that you are able to play it yourself.
On the Shoppage you can download the Demo for the game, with that you can get a good look of the game for yourself and don't have to rely solely on Videos

I have played just about 15-20 minutes of Armoured Brigade. Completely different game. Yes, Regiments is more arcade-like. But it is still a very good game. I have played like 160 hours of Regiments, so it's clear which I prefer.

But I suggest trying out the demo. and see for yourself.
Free demo on the store page.
If you're familiar with Combat Mission, Armored Brigade is in the same vein as that.

Regiments is more of your traditional RTS and plays completely differently to Armored Brigade which is more hands-off and slower paced.

Do try the demo though, you might actually like it. If you don't, you didn't have to spend any money to find that out.

Thanks for replies, i appreciate it.
I have Armored Brigade, bought it after a series of you-are-there articles in RPS. I am greatly underwhelmed by the content, considering the high price tag. You get more in almost any other WWIII sim per dollar than you do in AB, including the rightly maligned Red Dragon.

And this game? Is vastly superior to Red Dragon, and I played the hell out of all the Eugen WWIII titles. Regiments was comparable to European Escalation, and with the DLC, it's now better than the high water mark AirLand Battle.

ALB had a great dynamic campaign, but once you played it enough times, it began to feel more like variations on the same theme. Regiments, with War Paths, feels more like the chaos of an evolving battlefield. Oh look, four Abrams appear to help my French forces. Oh look, those...four...Abrams...are marauding around the battlefield murdering all the Czech positions...
Oh BTW, just to make you aware of it if you havn't noitice already, Regiments is on sale.
Interestingly Enough, Base Game and DLC are still cheaper then WARNO

None of them are arcadish Imho. Armoured brigade provides a higher level of simulation. Regiments is more abstract and more about positioning and maneuver. faster too. The UI is also a lot better. Overall I play regiments more.

Will you get Armored Brigade 2 when it drops?
I'll certainly get AB2, but then I'm addicted to these things... ;)

Forgive me for asking again, but still wondering about a CM Black Sea/Shock Force 2 vs. Regiments comparo? Not so much which game is worthy, but how they differ. Again, just got the Regiments Bundle and am having more fun so far than with CM, God help me. Also, the AI *seems* better in Regiments, but what do I know?

Okay, learning a lot from Rashpoints's Big Book of War v1.1.

I reinstalled Combat mission (red thunder) after 3y pause. Graviteam is top1 but its engine sim and fully makro managed. Combat mission is more simplier toward Graviteam and fully mikro managed on smaller scale.

Suma sumarum, Combat mission and Graviteam tactics represents only simulation of the battlefield, where Armoured brigade catches their heels...

Yes, CM Red Thunder fully updated seems the best of that series. And Graviteam is pretty amazing, but one really needs patience and time with the UI, and I am old and often low on patience!

Interesting Slim that you followed AB players to Regiments. I dunno, I tried the game at release and it obviously did not have the depth that it does now. Having a lot more fun with it than either CM or Grav. And as Radegast says so rightly above, those games are tactical sims, whereas Regiments is broader. As in "wider" ;)
One possibility that is probably obvious to all is Command: Modern Operations from Matrix. Someone just posted a Cold War scenario positing that the Soviet Union doubled down in Africa. But, of course, naval oriented, and I *think* the land-based part is just patched in.
