If the dev wants to keep it separate, ok cool they can 100% make it a separate save file. Problem solved. If it is the whole "its more fun with others" excuse. That needs to stop.
if it isn't already painfully obvious, a large portion of your playerbase does NOT wasn't open lobby gameplay. I;m sorry but no one wants to deal with screaming 12 year old, or someone with nothing better to do than smash into people constantly while they are storm chasing. If you think I'm being dramatic, please play any online game has a random matchmaking lobby system with voip that you the player cannot mute.
So yeah, that single player file needs to just be unlocked, sooner rather than later. I mean seriously, there's a solid chance the dev developed this game offline, not live on a server, meaning the game almost certainly saved its progression BEFORE it was moved to a server side system. The dev then CHOSE to lock down the single player. So straight up just comment out that block of code, unlock the file so we can have single player progression.
I fully respect and appreciate the work you (the Dev) have done, but you can't decide what is and isn't fun for players. Random lobbies with strangers are NOT fun to a lot of people, by the looks of things, about half of your players that left a review. playing alone IS fun, playing with friends IS fun, forced into random lobbies, nope, not fun. Like I said I respect your work, but I also am experienced in this field, I know the work involved getting your Co-Op working, I also know the amount of work to undo your bad decision of locking single player. We both know that's an easy correction to make, so here's hoping you think on it and realize maybe letting us the players decide what is and isn't fun might be a better idea.
That's not the point. My point was more just to shine light on the fact that IS something that can and does happen in open lobby voip games. I'm not saying it is. My point was I avoid open lobbies because I have no time for random strangers on the internet. I want to play with friends or alone, and clearly I'm not alone in the respect.
Also, maybe the 12 year old is into storm chasing, and maybe the storm hits them, and maybe they start screaming, it absolutely could happen.
But is this game even worth it at all for solo players?
If we are going for realism, I know there are plenty of storm chasers who chase solo, and love storms that don't have other vehicles scattered along the road. So the Dev's opinion doesn't reflect everyone. I get it if its very complicated or a mechanical issue, but if its personal preference only... :/
I agree with this statement. I really enjoy the game and want to continue supporting the development but it is difficult to play with all of the server related issues and cannot jump into a single player game knowing there is no progress to be earned,
This would be a perfect solution. Two separate save files for the different game modes would solve any single player or offline exploiting from being brought in to a multiplayer game. I can't think of one valid reason why this can't be done.
i dont get is that they state that only way to make money is online why bother putting in single player mode in at all!
(locking as there are several other threads on this that I just responded to also)
