3x Ingot Gold Sword might work also

Just did some experimenting. Sword>axe>knife. and necklace>ring. I can't do a correct comparison between jewelry and weapons since the weapons don't incorporate jewels.

Of course that is at the Jeweler. The stock market price will fluctuate and will give you a better price if it's over 100%.

early game 3 sword better since no gem compressor after that need to try same ingot weight + gem on the scale sword+gem and then necklace

I just did the math and there is no reason to not make the most complex items, as you get more value. For lighter materials there's some rounding in price. For items with multiple ingots, the raw weight is the weight of both ingots combined.

It all adds up to
Value = (Raw weight * raw value)*(item modifier)

Raw values per pound
Iron Ingot = 12
Gold Ingot = 20
Emerald = 22
Sapphire = 25
Ruby = 28

Item modifiers (in percent increase from raw)
Dagger = +10%
Axe = +20%
Sword = +30%
Ring = +10%
Necklace = +20%

For the dagger, axe, and sword, the value equation is
Value = (Raw ingot weight * Raw ingot value) * (item modifier)
For example, 10lb raw iron ingots to a dagger is
(10 * 12) * 1.1 = 132

For the ring and necklace, calculate bar separate from gem. It is the same otherwise.
Value = ((Raw ingot weight * Raw ingot value) + (Raw gem weight * Raw gem value)) * (item modifier)
For example, 10lb raw gold ingot and a 1lb emerald to a ring is
((10 * 20) + (1 * 22)) * 1.1 = 244.2 ~= 244

Huh, I didn't realise swords had a higher multiplier when you're only using ingots. So I guess the best approach is necklaces to use up gems with the smallest ingots you can be bothered making, but make the rest of your metal into swords.
